DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF COMPUTERIZED REGISTRATION APPLICATION FOR SCHOOL ENROLLMENT

1.1 Background of the Study

Nigeria, like the majority of the world’s countries, is becoming more interested in information technology. Even though most organisations and companies in other nations have integrated information technology in their activities, the majority of Nigerian organisations and companies have also benefited from information technology.

Even though other international countries, including America, China, and India, are enjoying an information technology boom, Nigeria has yet to reach that level. With the recent launch of a communication satellite, our country will discover the buried treasures of information technology.

As I explore the design and implementation of a computerised registration application for school enrollment, it is important to note that information technology plays a significant role in achieving this.

Implementing a computerised student registration system requires internet access, a website, and a powerful and dependable database, which cannot be overstated.

All of them must be taken into mind, and they are properly addressed in the following section of this session.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

Due to

(i) the problems students face when manually complete and submitting IMT forms, and

(ii) the time wasted in obtaining instructions from ABSU staff on how to fill the form.

(iii) The loss of certain submitted forms due to ABSU officers’ mishandling, and

(iv) the long queues that students confront while receiving their ABSU receipts, necessitate the construction of a computerised registration application for school enrollment to relieve these issues.

1.3 PURPOSE OF STUDY

The main objective of this research is to resolve the challenges that students face or encounter during registration. This is accomplished using a software computerised Registration application for school enrollment system that is user-friendly and simple to use; pupils will no longer be at risk of losing their submitted forms or information.

1.4 Significance of the Study

With the advancement of information technology, the study now provides several benefits not only to students but also to the ABSU board. The board does not have to spend any of its other resources by sending acceptance letters to students; instead, they earn money when students purchase scratch cards to verify their results or information.

Students can quickly obtain information by accessing the ABSU website without consulting an ABSU officer. Students no longer bear the penalties of incorrect information sent by an ABSU officer owing to mismanagement. Above importantly, students and ABSU officers’ knowledge of information technology is strengthened.

1.5 Aims and Objectives

The goals and objectives of this seminar are given below:

To provide software that substitutes the manual filling and submission of ABSU forms.

ii) To prevent or resolve problems that students encounter when paying various fees.

iii To assist management in the effective dissemination of ABSU information.

iv To assist management in ensuring the effective collection of student data.

v To assist the management in properly managing student data

All of these factors contribute to ensuring that students’ data is handled correctly and on schedule.

1.6 SCOPE OF THE STUDY

This lecture is exclusive to the Abia State University Board and her pupils. It is concerned with the creation of a computerised registration application for the school enrollment system. The programme will provide students with information on (i) ABSU registration, (ii) ABSU history, (iii) ABSU admission requirements, and (iv) ABSU course requirements.

Students can still obtain historical information about the Abia State University Board. The programme will be self-explanatory and engaging.

1.7 Limitations of Study

Due to the above-mentioned seminar’s scope, this project work is only available to students who wish to attend ABIA STATE UNIVERSITY. It is vital to note that time was a critical restriction throughout the fact-finding process.

It is also worth noting that some of the information we need to work with was not acquired due to the board’s unwillingness to provide it.

1.8 Assumption of Study

One of the key assumptions established in this seminar’s work is that manual completing and submission of ABSU forms is inefficient, time-consuming, and prone to misplacement or mishandling of student data by ABSU staff.

It is also predicted that as information technology advances, there will be a strong demand to join this trend.

It is also thought that the computerised student registration approach is more cost-effective for the board than the manual one.

1.9 Definition of Terms

The internet is a collection of computer networks that adhere to common standards and allow computers and the programmes they execute to connect directly.

Server: This is a procedure that delivers requested services to clients.

Software: A logically designed programme that hardware employs to accomplish its functions.
