DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF DATA BASE MANAGEMENT MODEL FOR INTERNAL REVENUE GENERATION

ABSTRACT

Local government is formed with the intention of fulfilling some local responsibilities within its jurisdiction. The Local Government requires cash to carry out these local functions. These subsidies come from the federal and state governments.

However, the Local Government faces significant challenges in obtaining adequate revenue from both the Federal and State Governments; thus, internally generated revenue within the Local Government is used to fund these local projects rather than relying solely on the Federal and State Governments.

During the collection of this internally generated money inside the local government, many errors are made by officials, and they are also confronted with numerous challenges in managing the internally generated revenue information. The proposed system intends to remove the shortcomings in the present method.

This study contributes to an evaluation of the numerous internal revenue streams within the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area. A database management model has been created for Akoko-Edo Local Government Area in Igarra, Edo State, employing the C-sharp programming language for interface scripting and SQL for database development.

This approach would help monitor the entire exercise, and if it is actually implemented and embraced by Akoko-Edo Local Government Area Igarra Edo State, it will go a long way towards improving the Local Government’s income information management.
