FIRST CHAPTER INTRODUCTION

CONTEXT OF THE STUDY

In our economy, managers of both private and public organizations are concerned with the need to motivate employees. In order to increase productivity and persuade personnel to perform their duties, managers must comprehend and accommodate the different types of people who work in a given organization. Moreover, in order to motivate personnel to perform their duties, managers must be aware of the various behaviors that employees exhibit.

The motivation of administration personnel at the local education authority in Dutsin a€” ma is comparable to that of other organizations in Nigeria.

On the basis of these premises, we intend to examine the situation in an effort to find a solution or at least reduce the incidence of low productivity. I also hope that by the conclusion of this exercise, the organization will have a clearer understanding of motivation and increased productivity.

An organization is comprised of individuals who interact at various levels to achieve a specific objective. Therefore, management creates and maintains an environment in which individuals collaborate to achieve predetermined objectives. Fadeyi (1976). (1976).

The success of an organization is dependent on the performance or effectiveness of its employees. The organization’s administration. It is the responsibility of management to investigate the most effective ways to induce or motivate employees to perform their best. This could be accomplished through the productivity-enhancing management study adopted by the organization.

Additionally, management ensures that the rate of employee turnover is reduced to an absolute minimum. This study focuses on the motivational techniques employed by the management of Local Education Authority Dustin a€” ma and whether, when properly planned and implemented, these techniques could increase the productivity of such an organization. Any organization that does not recognize the significance of motivation is unlikely to increase productivity and retain employees for an extended period of time.

As workers are the most valuable assets in a service-oriented organization, the purpose of this research is to examine the various components of motivation that are essential to establishing and sustaining productivity through effective performance.

1.1Â Â STATEMENT OF THE RESEARCH PROBLEM
There is virtually no organization that can advance without adequate worker motivation. In any organization, the significance of motivation cannot be overstated.

Scale inadequacies are revealed by a critical examination of our government structure and local structure, respectively. It is possible to immediately identify the cause and potential remedy for the high level of deficiencies. The attitude of most workers is characterized by dissatisfaction, frustration, lack of interest, and poor communication.

A group with this kind of unhealthy disposition is incapable of cooperating to their fullest capacity in the organization’s best interest. The purpose of all organizations is to utilize their human resources to the fullest extent possible in order to achieve their goals; such a work ethic is essential to the survival of any organization.

How can employee motivation for quality and productivity be cultivated and maintained? There has been a decline in the rate of private and public industrial productivity, according to Wayne (1989).

Despite the government’s continued efforts to motivate its employees, the recent nationwide strike reveals that much remains to be desired. It is extremely challenging to state categorically that motivational effects fully satisfy the desires and goals of civil servants.

Since their services are essential to the development of society, it is necessary to motivate workers to work.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
The following are the aims and objectives of the study research.

To comprehend how subordinates motivate subordinates to behave in a manner that advances the organization’s goals.
Determine the differences in motivation between the various levels of management.
Determine the effects of motivation on Local Education Authority staff Dutsin – ma
The purpose of this study is to determine whether workplace motivation increases or decreases productivity.
The research will provide suggestions for enhancing the work environment in an organization.
To enable additional research into the organization with the goal of increasing productivity.
To serve as a research foundation for other organizational areas of interest
IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY
The country’s employee productivity has been extremely low. The problem appears to have gotten worse as the private and public sectors of the economy continue to add employees.

The situation is more worrisome in the public sector, where employment depends less on reducing unemployment and more on satisfying political demand.

The purpose of any organization is to provide a service or make a profit, and because humans are unpredictable, the work attitudes of its employees must be continuously evaluated.
Since the beginning of industrial relations, theorists have recognized the need for such research in an effort to improve worker conditions and boost productivity.

The federal, state, and local governments spend millions of Naira annually on staff salaries, which is disproportionate to their output. This imbalance must be corrected.

Moreover, employers are always obligated to understand the root of employee attitude and conduct in order to motivate them to sustain increased productivity. Although there are numerous motivation theorists, their implicit suggestions for what administration should do to obtain effective performance from their employees vary widely. Employees who exhibit effective performance.

Nigeria has a peculiar problem stemming from absenteeism, tardiness to work, and outright dereliction of duties, which has impacted overall productivity and necessitated studies that will lead to the accomplishment of organizational tasks.

SCOPE AND BOUNDS OF THE STUDY
In terms of coverage and time dimension, it is crucial to define the scope and limitations of this research project.

Typically, the reactions of such boundaries are necessitated by the difficulties posed by the organization of large data sets.

This study confirms the impact of motivation on the performance of administrative personnel of the Dutsin a€” ma Local Education Authority. The exercise was constrained by time and money.

The time allotted for this research was insufficient to warrant intensive research, and funding also contributes to this. The necessary funds will not be easily accessible.

Any attempt to estimate cost and duration renders the task impossible. It is hoped that the study will serve as a representative sample for other local education authorities in the state of Katsina, whose inductive findings will be applicable on a broad scale.

In the future, other scholars will conduct similar research to place the organization in its proper context for the entire state.
