INTRODUCTION

Background to the Study
According to (Encyclopaedia Britannica), trade fairs are temporary markets where businesses can transact. Manufacturing businesses use trade fairs to communicate directly with the general public for strategic or competitive purposes.

The goal has always been to highlight the country’s vast potential for economic and social growth. Such shows showcase products of interest to buyers, investors, or interest groups, allowing Nigeria to diversify its economy away from reliance on crude oil and develop other areas.

Many investors have been lured to this country to capitalise on its enormous natural resources through trade fairs. We require industrial electricity, water supplies, railways, and a good network of roads, highways, and bridges. At this stage of nationhood, producers should make manufactured goods and export them for foreign revenue.

Over the years, trade fairs have been organised in various sites or regions, including those held annually in Lagos, Kaduna, Enugu, and Uyo. The goal of this study is to look into the role or influence of these trade fairs in boosting entrepreneurial activity in Akwa Ibom State.

Statement of the Problem

Akwa Ibom State’s problems include a lack of fair villages and disagreement among the state’s chambers of commerce. The state’s economic potential is vast, but financing and investors to access those resources have been few.

To attract these investors, not only does the private sector need to take the initiative through displays of these enormous potentials and resources, but there must also be a political wall.

This study seeks to identify the difficulties and solutions to the role of trade fairs in boosting entrepreneurial activities in Akwa Ibom State. In will strive to answer the following questions:

Can participation in trade fairs boost the state’s economic performance?

Can trade fairs promote the state’s economic development?

Can fair trade contributions help the state’s economic development?

What are the issues surrounding the state’s development through trade fairs?

Will the product of the industrialised nation showcase; style the performance of the domestic economy?

Objectives of the Study
The following are the study’s particular objectives:

To investigate the benefits of entrepreneurs’ involvement in trade fairs.

To investigate the extent to which trade fair participation has resulted in economic growth and development for the state.

To investigate the issues raised by chambers of business and industry regarding their participation in and organisation of trade fairs.
