1.1 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM AND THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
It is conventional knowledge that third-world countries are generally impoverished. Even though the industrialised world has poor people, they are not comparable to the developing world. Nigeria is regarded as the African behemoth due to its abundant natural and people resources.
In Nigeria today, the poor are getting poorer while the privileged are getting richer, calling into doubt the reality of true democracy and one Nigeria.
This research work is intended to investigate how to boost growth in Nigeria in order to reduce poverty among Nigerians on the basis of this bank ground of suffering and deprivation of the poor.
1.2 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
If this study is effective and these recommendations are executed, the country will be altered and poverty will be reduced. This can systematically attract the much needed conduction to reduce poverty in Nigeria.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY IS DETAILED IN 1.3.
The significance of this study is to achieve tremendous success in contributing the little that the researcher can, if not a big deal, to reducing the suffering of Nigerians by improving their living standards.
The study is also intended to benefit the Nigerian economy and national development.
It is common knowledge that a hungry nation is an angry nation, and a healthy nation is a prosperous nation.
When a country’s citizens are healthy, its growth improves since a country’s development is determined by its citizens’ working capacity.
1.4 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
In Nigeria, poverty has gradually worsened over the previous ten years. According to both world bank and human development reports, Nigeria was rated 54th in 1087 and was designated as a middle-income country in the 1981 world development report.
Nigeria had lost its status as a middle-income country by 1957, and by 1991, it had entered the club of the world’s poorest countries, alongside Tanzania and Somalia.
Bangladesh, Malawi, Nepal, chard, Burundi, Sierra Leone, and Madagascar (new swatches on January 13, 1992) Nigeria’s per capita income has similarly progressively fallen, from 800 in 1980 to 250 in 1989.
1.4 DEFINITON OF THE STUDY
To avoid ambiguity, the following terminology used in this project writing have been defined.

Poverty is defined as a living condition in which an entity faces economic, social, political, cultural, and environmental deprivation, which can affect an individual, family, community, or nation.

This is a collective term for most or all developing and underdeveloped countries, the majority of which are found in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and Nigeria is included.

Various official and private sector efforts to eliminate poverty.
