Chapter one

1.0 Introduction.
1.1 Background and Motivation. Fish farming is the most common type of aquaculture; it involves economically rearing fish in ponds or tanks, mostly for food. In Nigeria, 80 percent of the fish harvested is consumed, with the remaining 20 percent used to manufacture items such as fish oil, fertilisers, and animal fodder.

[1] Fisheries and aquaculture are vital components of agriculture that have been shown to have the potential to boost the country’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product), and they are a very profitable business in Nigeria.

However, having a fish farm is one thing, but maintaining one is another. Having worked in my father’s fish farm and having supervisors with experience in the sector, we noted various obstacles, such as:  Lack of time for farmers.  Investment loss owing to fish consumption  High labour costs (BO4)

1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT. Running a fish farm business takes a lot of work, is money expensive, and all risks must be considered to provide the highest possible return on investment.

When it comes to feeding a fish farm, it takes a lot of money and effort to constantly watch and feed the fish on time, but farmers have more important things to do than sit around and attend to their farms.

Even hired external help can be dangerous at times since some, if not all, might be careless. Fishes feed on weak or damaged individuals in two scenarios: improper feeding because to reduced fish pallets.

 Improper feeding due to delayed timing Farmers lose a lot of money every time a single fish is swallowed, as one kilogramme of fish costs three thousand naira (N 3,000).[BO5]

1.3 Objectives of the Project

The goal of the project is to develop an efficient method of feeding a small-scale fish farm.

1.4 Outline of the Report Chapter 1 describes the system to be constructed, the motivation behind it, and the project’s goals and objectives. Chapter 2 provides the requirements for developing the system, ensuring that it satisfies the scope and performs properly.

These requirements include software and hardware needed to build the system. Provide a detailed description of all system components.

The third chapter describes the system’s hardware and software design. Details on how the hardware is connected and how the software is utilised to deliver data over the internet.

The report concludes with Chapter 4, which describes some of the obstacles encountered as well as future targets for system improvement.[BO6]
