ABSTRACT
Because both the government and the private sector have failed to give a long-term solution to the unemployment problem, cooperatives have emerged as an alternative solution of need. In order to undertake a concise generalisation of cooperative solutions, Nkanu was employed. The study, which ran from 2010 to 2011, looked at several types of cooperative activities to see if they were effective in increasing employment. Literature reviews were conducted based on the reviews of other writers. Some writers sounded strongly accurate, while others were problematic. Because the study is an attitudinal survey structure, the researcher used a questionnaire and an interview to collect data in order to determine and evaluate cooperative activities and their impact on unemployment reduction and to recommend ways to improve them in our economy. The researcher employed grouped tabulations (pie chart, frequency, percentage, and chi-square). Finally, the researchers note that several issues have inhibited the functioning and existence of cooperatives, and they have made no significant contribution to increasing employment levels. Recommendations were provided for improving their actions.
