DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERIZED EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION

Background of the study

Education is an essential system that shapes everyone’s life and encourages the application of all aspects of life. It might be described as a process for acquiring and disseminating skills and information to future generations of the nation. The identified system is mostly used in educational settings.

For the past ten years, it has been observed that schools are no longer what they once were, as a result of the wide-ranging changes that have occurred, bringing new strain with growing size. As a result, organisational complexity has increased, resulting in stress and anxiety from choice in addition to dimension.

The competent educational administration constitutes the intensity of education, and its barriers mount a troubling dispersal and obscuring of purpose, all of which coincide with a significant recruitment of curriculum and methodologies.

In most situations, the manual approach used to supervise some school activities undermines other functions such as student enrollment, computation of student results, examination supervision, and test script preparation.

In order to address the disparities caused by manual school administration procedures, the school management board should establish a competitive way of achieving their goals using a computerised educational administrative information system.

AIMS/OBJECTIVES

The study’s primary goal is to provide a long-term solution to problems caused by manual school management methods. They are as follows.

To develop a system that increases the organization’s predictability by critically examining its obsolescence in response to new threats.

To create a trustworthy system that would coordinate the majority of school activities.

To create a flexible and comprehensive system that will satisfy the school’s future development needs.

To design and construct a computerised system to handle the execution of school activities, particularly in post-primary schools, in order to resolve all of the issues highlighted with the current system.

Statement of the Problem

The sudden increase in the number of students enrolled in each school has transcended the manipulation of the existing system used by school administrators, resulting in a slew of issues, including inaccurate computation of student results by staff due to a lack of adequate computer systems for the computation.

This is a very unpleasant development. Furthermore, it was difficult to determine when student enrollment should finish because there was no effective system for estimating enrolment ratios that would provide a warning when enrollment tended to exceed the estimate.

All of these issues arise as a result of the weakened state of the current system. It was difficult to identify pupils who cheated during the examination due to the non-standard metric utilised in examination supervision.

The personnel expressed major concerns about the unnecessary stress they felt while manually marking the examination answer scripts.

Justification of the Study

The deployment of this computerised method would undoubtedly raise the educational standard. This would also assist management in reducing the workload on employees, which would benefit both students and employees. It is also a foundational study for research, the general public, and future scholars.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY:
This study looked at the substantive solutions to the challenges caused by the current system employed in school administration and management. However, the case study focuses on Enugu’s post-primary school management board (PPSMB).

METHODOLOGY
Due to time constraints, she used only two methods of data collection for the study. These two processes encompass.

A) INTERVIEW METHOD:- The interview was held at the post-primary school management board. The researcher interviewed the director of school supervisor about the nature of her duties in the schools she had supervised, with a focus on examination coordination and supervision, as well as the enrollment ratio for student admission.

The director of the administration department was also questioned about the management board’s responsibilities and negligence towards the growth of education in schools, with minimal cooperation from some of the staff. The answers to the questions allowed the researcher to take off.
