Essay Writing Service In Nigeria

The best help you need when the Deadline Is Closer Than The Idea

You’ve got three assignments due the same week, a test to study for, and an essay topic you’re still not sure how to approach. This is the exact spot most Nigerian students find themselves in at some point, not because they can’t write, but because there simply isn’t enough time to do everything well at once.

That’s the gap a proper essay writing service is supposed to fill. Not by replacing your thinking, but by giving you a professionally written, well researched piece you can learn from, submit with confidence, or use as a model for your own writing.

What An Essay Writing Service Actually Does

An essay writing service pairs you with a writer who has real academic background in your subject, then produces an original piece built around your specific prompt, word count, and referencing style. This covers everything from a five paragraph argumentative essay to a detailed personal statement for a scholarship or admission application.

A good service does not hand you a recycled file pulled from a folder of old submissions. Every piece should be written fresh, checked for plagiarism, and matched to exactly what your lecturer or admissions officer asked for.

This is different from our thesis and project support, which covers longer, multi-chapter academic work. If your assignment is an essay, a coursework paper, or a shorter written task, this is the service built specifically for that.

Why Nigerian Students Reach For Essay Help So Often

The reasons are rarely about not being capable. They’re almost always about circumstance.

Overlapping deadlines. Three or four courses assigning essays in the same week is common, and there are only so many hours in a day.

Unclear rubrics. Some lecturers give detailed grading criteria, others give almost nothing, leaving students guessing at what’s actually expected.

English as a second or third language. Academic English has its own tone and structure, and getting that tone right takes practice many students haven’t had time to build.

Part-time work and family responsibility. A lot of students are also working, running a side hustle, or supporting family, which eats directly into study time.

Weak feedback loops. Without detailed comments on earlier essays, it’s hard to know exactly where your writing is falling short.

None of this means a student can’t write. It means life is genuinely competing for the same hours the essay needs.

The Range Of Essays And Academic Writing We Cover

Not every writing task looks the same, and a proper service should be flexible enough to handle all of them.

Argumentative and persuasive essays, where you’re expected to take a position and defend it with evidence

Descriptive and narrative essays, common in humanities and language courses

Analytical essays, breaking down a text, event, policy, or case for deeper examination

Coursework assignments, tied to a specific module or continuous assessment requirement

Admission essays and personal statements, for scholarships, exchange programs, or postgraduate applications

Reflective essays, often required in education, nursing, and social work programs

Book and article reviews, summarizing and critically engaging with assigned readings

If your task is longer than a standard essay, such as a full research paper, seminar paper, or thesis, that falls under our thesis writing services in Nigeria instead, and the same subject-matching approach applies there too.

What Separates A Good Essay Service From A Risky One

This industry has plenty of low-effort operators mixed in with the legitimate ones, so it’s worth knowing what actually matters.

Subject matching, not a generalist pool. A law essay and an engineering essay should never be handled by the same person just because they happen to be free. Whoever writes your essay should have an academic background that actually fits your course.

Original work, every single time. Your essay should be written from scratch based on your specific prompt, checked against plagiarism detection tools, and never reused for another student.

Real referencing, done properly. Whether your department wants APA, MLA, Harvard, or Chicago style, the citations should be accurate and verifiable, not padded with sources that don’t exist.

Fast, honest communication. You should be able to reach whoever is handling your essay directly, get clear answers, and receive updates without chasing anyone down.

Revisions without a new invoice. If your lecturer sends feedback or you need a small adjustment, that should be handled as part of what you already paid for.

Confidentiality that’s actually respected. Your topic, your personal details, and your writing should never be shared, resold, or reused elsewhere.

How The Process Works

Getting an essay written shouldn’t feel complicated, and here’s what a clean process looks like from your side.

Share your brief. Send your topic, word count, referencing style, deadline, and any rubric or instructions your lecturer provided.

Get matched and quoted. You’re paired with a writer whose background fits the subject, and given a clear price before anything is paid.

Writing and research. The writer builds the essay around your specific prompt, using credible, relevant sources.

Review and delivery. You receive the finished essay, formatted correctly, with a plagiarism report attached, ready for you to read through before submission.

Most standard essays take anywhere from a few days to a week, depending on length and how much research the topic requires. Urgent requests can be turned around faster, though tighter deadlines usually come with a small premium given the compressed timeline.

What This Typically Costs

Essay pricing generally follows the same structure as our shorter academic assignments, priced per page rather than as a flat project fee. Most essays and short assignments fall between ₦5,000 and ₦15,000 per page, depending on subject complexity, referencing requirements, and how urgent your deadline is.

A short, straightforward descriptive essay on a familiar topic sits toward the lower end of that range. A longer analytical essay in a technical field, or one needing a fast turnaround, sits closer to the top.

You’ll always get the exact price before any payment is made, based on your specific topic and page count, so there are no surprises once the writing has already started.

Staying On The Right Side Of Academic Integrity

It’s worth being direct about this. The value of a service like this comes from using it to understand structure, strengthen your own writing, and see how a well argued essay actually comes together, not as a way to avoid learning the material altogether.

We build every essay around your specific prompt and encourage you to read, understand, and engage with what’s delivered rather than submitting it blindly without knowing what it says. That’s also exactly why our plagiarism reports and revision process exist, so you always know what you’re handing in and why it holds up.

Why Premium Researchers Over Everyone Else Offering This

Plenty of platforms claim to offer essay help, but subject matching is where most of them cut corners. We assign your essay to someone who has actually studied or worked in your field, the same standard we apply across our thesis writing services in Abuja and nationwide academic writing services in Nigeria.

If you’re a final year student who also needs help beyond essays, our final year project writing help page covers the full project process, and our seminar writing service covers coursework papers specifically. Wherever you’re based, from Lagos to Kaduna to Rivers State, the same standard of subject-matched, plagiarism-free work applies.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can I get an essay written? Most standard essays are ready within a few days, with faster turnaround available for urgent deadlines at a small premium.

Can you match my university’s specific referencing style? Yes. Whether it’s APA, MLA, Harvard, Chicago, or a style your department has its own variation of, the referencing is built to match exactly what’s required.

What if my lecturer asks for changes? Any lecturer-requested revisions are handled as part of the same order, not billed separately.

Do you handle admission essays and personal statements too? Yes, including scholarship applications and postgraduate admission essays, which need a different tone from a standard coursework essay.

Is my information kept private? Yes. Your topic, personal details, and the essay itself stay between you and your assigned writer.

What Research Paper Writing Services Actually Are

A research paper writing service is a team of academically trained professionals who support students through the research and writing process, from choosing a topic all the way to defending it in front of a panel.

This is not about buying a finished document off a shelf. A legitimate service works with your specific topic, your specific university’s requirements, and your specific timeline, producing original work built around your research questions.

Over the last two decades, this industry in Nigeria has moved from informal arrangements between students to structured, professional academic support businesses. The shift matters, because it separates services that can actually be trusted with your degree from the ones that cannot.

How This Industry Actually Evolved

The early years, roughly 2000 to 2010, looked nothing like today’s services. Help was mostly informal, senior students supporting juniors for small change, typing centres doing basic formatting, and the occasional “project seller” offering material of questionable quality.

The growth phase, roughly 2010 to 2018, is when things started to professionalize. Structured teams, qualified writers, and actual quality guarantees began replacing the old informal setup, and online platforms made this kind of support reachable outside of word of mouth alone.

The current landscape, from 2018 onward, is far more sophisticated. Specialized subject expertise, real statistical analysis, plagiarism verification, and full academic support have become the standard for legitimate providers, while a clear line has formed between trustworthy services and scam operators riding on the same demand.

What This Kind Of Service Should Never Be

Before going further, it is worth being clear about what a proper research paper service is not. It is not a shortcut to skip learning entirely, and it is not a shop selling recycled projects to multiple students.

Any provider offering you a paper “already written and ready to submit” without discussing your specific topic is not offering a research service. They are offering plagiarism risk with your name attached to it.

Why So Many Nigerian Students Need This Kind Of Help

It helps to understand why this need exists in the first place, because the reasons are rarely about laziness. They are almost always structural.

Academic pressure is real and constant. Scholarships, job applications, and postgraduate admissions all lean on CGPA, and a poorly handled research paper can quietly undo years of good grades.

Time is not evenly distributed. A large share of Nigerian postgraduate students are working full time while studying, which leaves almost no room for the kind of deep, uninterrupted research a good paper requires.

Research training is often thin. Many departments spend far more time on theory than on the practical mechanics of research design, sampling, data collection, and statistical analysis, leaving students to figure out the technical side alone.

Supervisors are stretched thin. A single supervisor may be responsible for dozens of students at once, which means feedback can be slow, vague, or inconsistent through no fault of the student.

English as a second language adds friction. Academic writing has its own register, and switching into it convincingly takes practice most students have not had the chance to build.

Infrastructure works against research. Unreliable power, unstable internet, expensive journal paywalls, and long commutes all eat directly into research time that should be going toward the actual work.

None of this is an excuse to cut corners. It is the honest explanation for why structured, professional support has become such a normal part of Nigerian academic life.

The Different Ways You Can Get Support

Not every student needs the same kind of help, and a good service should be flexible enough to meet you wherever you currently are.

Full service research writing. Complete development from topic selection through final submission, covering research, writing, analysis, and formatting from start to finish.

Consultation and guidance. Expert direction on your research process while you do the actual writing yourself, ideal if your goal is building the skill rather than outsourcing the whole thing.

Editing and proofreading. Improvement of a draft you have already written, focused on grammar, structure, flow, and academic tone.

Data analysis services. Statistical or qualitative analysis and results presentation for projects that already have data collected.

Literature review services. A focused, standalone service for the specific chapter that tends to cause the most trouble.

Every Type Of Research Paper Nigerian Students Write

Knowing what category your work falls into helps you communicate clearly with whoever ends up helping you, and helps you judge whether a service actually understands what you need.

Undergraduate Level

Final year projects typically run forty to eighty pages across five chapters, covering introduction, literature review, methodology, findings, and conclusion. This is usually the first serious research document a student ever produces, and it is where research inexperience shows up the most.

Term papers and assignments are shorter, usually five to twenty pages, focused on literature review and critical analysis rather than original data collection. These come with tight, overlapping deadlines that pile up across multiple courses at once.

Master’s Level

Master’s theses run eighty to one hundred and fifty pages and demand a genuine contribution to the field, not just a well organized summary of existing work.

Research proposals, usually fifteen to thirty pages, come before the thesis itself and need to convince a supervisor that the study is feasible, well designed, and worth pursuing.

Seminar papers, twenty to forty pages, are common coursework requirements that demand real analytical depth despite the shorter length.

PhD Level

PhD dissertations run a hundred and fifty pages or more, and must demonstrate original contribution, methodological rigor, and command of the existing literature at a level far beyond master’s work.

Conference papers, six to fifteen pages, need to hold up to publication standards and are often a doctoral candidate’s first real exposure to peer review.

Journal articles, typically four to eight thousand words, come with their own formatting demands and can go through several rounds of revision before acceptance.

Specialized Categories

Literature reviews as standalone documents, synthesizing existing research and identifying where the gaps are

Case studies using qualitative methods to examine a specific organization, event, or phenomenon in depth

Empirical research papers built around original data collection and analysis

Theoretical papers that extend or challenge existing frameworks and models

The 14 Things A Genuinely Good Service Must Offer

This is the checklist we hold ourselves to, and the one you should be measuring any provider against.

1. Subject Matter Expertise, Not Generalist Guessing

A writer who understands engineering should not be the same person handling your law paper the next day. The right service assigns you someone whose actual background matches your field, not just whoever happens to be free.

2. Genuine Research Depth

Your sources should mostly come from the last five years, drawn from credible journals rather than blogs or outdated material. A paper built on thin, recycled research collapses the moment a supervisor asks a probing question.

3. Methodological Rigor

Your research design, sampling approach, and data collection tools need to actually fit your research questions, not be copied wholesale from a template study. This is one of the fastest ways a panel can tell a project was rushed.

4. Original Analysis, Not Just Summary

A paper that only restates what other authors said, without synthesizing or critiquing it, will not hold up under scrutiny. Real academic writing draws connections between sources and builds an argument from them.

5. Airtight Citation And Referencing

Every citation style, whether APA, Harvard, MLA, Chicago, or IEEE, has strict rules, and getting them wrong is treated as plagiarism even when it is accidental. Every reference listed should be a real, verifiable source.

6. A Real Plagiarism Guarantee

You should receive an actual similarity report, not just a verbal promise. A result under ten percent is generally solid, and anything above twenty five percent needs serious revision before submission.

7. Correct University Specific Formatting

Different Nigerian universities have different rules for title pages, preliminary pages, margins, and referencing conventions, and getting this wrong can delay your submission even if the content is excellent.

8. Real Data Analysis Capability

Whether your project needs SPSS, STATA, R, Excel, or NVivo, whoever is handling your analysis should be able to explain exactly why a particular test was chosen and what the results actually mean.

9. Communication That Actually Happens

You should have a direct line to whoever is working on your project, with responses inside a reasonable window, not silence for days at a time.

10. Revisions Without New Invoices

Supervisor-requested changes should be handled as part of the service you already paid for, not billed as a brand new job every time feedback comes back.

11. Real Defense Preparation

This includes mock defense sessions, likely questions from your panel, and enough understanding of your own project that you are not just reciting someone else’s explanation.

12. Support That Continues After Delivery

Questions come up after the document is submitted, and a service that vanishes once payment clears was never really supporting you in the first place.

13. Confidentiality You Can Actually Trust

Your topic, your data, and your personal details should stay between you and your writer, not get reused, shared, or resold elsewhere.

14. A Clear, Honest Process From Day One

You should know exactly what happens at each stage, what it costs, and when to expect each deliverable, before you commit a single naira.

How The Process Works From Start To Finish

Knowing the actual sequence helps you spot a service that is organized versus one that is making it up as they go.

Phase One: Consultation And Onboarding

Send us a Whatsapp Message Click Here

Don't struggle alone - send a quick message and have a professional writer working on your project today

or email your files to contact@premiumresearchers.com

This starts with a simple conversation, usually over WhatsApp, phone, or email, where you share your topic, academic level, university, and timeline. From there, a proper service walks you through their process, matches you with the right writer, and gives you a clear quote before any deposit changes hands.

Phase Two: Research And Chapter Development

This is where the actual work happens, starting with narrowing your topic and building out your research questions. Chapters develop in sequence, introduction, literature review, methodology, results, and discussion, with the literature search itself often taking the most time since it shapes everything that follows.

Phase Three: Review And Revision

A complete draft comes to you first, along with a plagiarism report, so you can review everything before it ever reaches your supervisor. Once your supervisor gives feedback, that feedback goes back to your writer, and revisions happen as part of the same engagement.

Phase Four: Finalization And Delivery

Before final delivery, everything gets checked again: formatting, references, plagiarism score, and alignment with your university’s specific requirements. You should receive the finished document in both Word and PDF, along with your plagiarism report and any supporting materials like questionnaires or raw data.

Phase Five: Defense Preparation

In the weeks before your defense, the focus shifts to making sure you can explain your own work convincingly. This includes mock questioning, walking through your methodology and findings, and building the confidence to handle a panel’s pushback without freezing.

Typical Timelines

Undergraduate projects: four to six weeks from start to finalized document

Master’s theses: eight to twelve weeks depending on data complexity

PhD dissertations: sixteen to twenty four weeks, sometimes longer for highly technical fields

Rush timelines are possible for urgent deadlines, though they usually come with a premium since the workload gets compressed rather than reduced.

What You Should Expect To Pay, And Why

Pricing in this industry varies widely, and understanding what drives that variation protects you from both overpaying and underpaying into a scam. Below are the typical ranges you should expect to see from a legitimate provider, ours included, though your exact quote will always depend on your specific topic and scope.

Typical Price Ranges By Paper Type

Undergraduate final year projects: generally ₦150,000 to ₦450,000, with basic quality at the lower end and premium, first-class-focused support toward the top.

Term papers and shorter assignments: roughly ₦8,000 to ₦15,000 per page, depending on subject complexity and turnaround time.

Master’s theses: typically ₦300,000 to ₦550,000 across the full project, with research proposals on their own running ₦100,000 to ₦200,000.

Seminar papers: usually ₦50,000 to ₦150,000 for a twenty to forty page paper.

PhD dissertations: generally ₦400,000 to ₦800,000 given the depth of originality and research rigor required.

Conference papers and journal articles: roughly ₦80,000 to ₦150,000 for conference papers, and ₦100,000 to ₦150,000 for journal articles, which often go through multiple review rounds.

Add-on services: statistical analysis typically runs ₦100,000 to ₦200,000 depending on complexity, standalone literature reviews run ₦100,000 to ₦180,000, and formatting or reference list cleanup runs ₦20,000 to ₦60,000.

These figures move with subject complexity and urgency, so treat them as a planning guide rather than a fixed quote. Reach out with your specific topic and timeline for an exact number.

How Payment Is Usually Structured

A transparent service should lay out payment in clear stages rather than demanding everything upfront.

Standard structure: roughly fifty percent deposit to begin, thirty percent at draft delivery, and twenty percent at final delivery after revisions.

Larger projects: sometimes split further into four stages, with smaller portions due at the deposit, midpoint, draft, and final delivery.

Chapter by chapter payment: an option for students who prefer paying as each chapter is delivered rather than committing the full amount upfront.

Be cautious of any service asking for full payment before any work has started, since that removes your ability to walk away if something feels off.

Ways To Make This More Affordable

Consultation only support, where you pay a smaller fee for guidance and structure while doing the writing yourself

Editing an existing draft instead of full rewriting, which typically costs a fraction of a full writing service

Paying chapter by chapter instead of committing to the entire project cost at once

Reaching out early, since services often extend a discount to students who start three to four months ahead of their deadline instead of arriving weeks before submission

What Actually Moves The Price

Academic level. PhD work costs more than master’s, which costs more than undergraduate, simply because the depth of originality and expertise required increases at each stage.

Subject complexity. Fields like medicine, engineering, law, and advanced statistics typically cost more than general social science or humanities topics.

Timeline pressure. Standard timelines cost less than rushed ones, since compressing months of research into weeks requires more concentrated effort.

Research type. Empirical work involving primary data collection costs more than a purely library-based theoretical paper.

Length and scope. Longer documents with more chapters and more analysis naturally cost more than shorter ones.

A Simple Way To Sanity Check Any Quote

If an undergraduate project is priced unusually low, that is a signal, not a bargain. Recycled or plagiarized work is often how prices get pushed that far down.

On the other end, if a quote is dramatically higher than everything else you have seen for a similar scope, ask exactly what is driving that number before you commit. A transparent service can explain its pricing in plain terms without vague justifications.

What Should Always Be Included, Never An Extra Charge

Your plagiarism or similarity report

Reasonable revisions based on supervisor feedback

Full reference list formatting

Formatting to your university’s required style

Any service that treats these as optional add-ons after you have already paid is not being upfront with you.

How To Tell A Real Expert Writer From A Pretender

Academic credentials matter, but they are only the starting point. The real test is whether someone can actually discuss your topic like they understand it.

Minimum Qualifications Worth Checking For

At a bare minimum, whoever handles your undergraduate project should hold a bachelor’s degree, a master’s thesis should be handled by someone with a master’s degree, and a doctoral dissertation should involve someone with a PhD. Beyond that baseline, a degree specifically in your field, published research, and real teaching or industry experience are all strong positive signs.

Experience And Track Record

Look for writers with roughly three or more years of experience for undergraduate work, five or more for master’s level, and seven or more for PhD level projects. It is also fair to ask about their approval rate on first submission, the range of grades their past students have achieved, and whether they can show you a sample of previous work in your specific field.

Ask About Their Methodology Reasoning

A capable writer can explain why a descriptive design fits your topic better than an explanatory one, or why a particular sampling method makes sense given your population. If the answer is vague or generic, that is worth noticing.

Test Their Literature Knowledge

Ask what theoretical frameworks are commonly used in your specific area of study. Someone who actually works in your field will have an answer ready, not a scramble.

Watch How They Handle Critical Analysis

A good writer questions and synthesizes sources rather than just restating them one after another. If a sample of their previous work reads like a list of summaries with no connective argument, that is a real warning sign.

Notice Their Communication Style

Clear, prompt, specific answers are a good sign. Long silences, vague reassurances, and a different person answering every time you reach out are not.

Red Flags That Should Make You Walk Away

A price that seems too good to be true for the academic level and scope involved

No plagiarism report offered, or reluctance to provide one

Refusal to discuss your specific topic in any depth before you pay

No direct communication with the person actually doing the work

Pressure to pay the full amount upfront with no milestone structure

Vague promises about “guaranteed first class” results with no explanation of process

Why Premium Researchers Approaches This Differently

We built our process around one core idea: the goal is not just a finished document, it is a student who can stand in front of a panel and defend their own work with confidence.

That is why every student is matched with a writer trained specifically in their field, not a generalist stretched across every subject at once. It is also why our process includes real conversations through WhatsApp and scheduled calls, not just a document dropped in your inbox at the end.

We support students across undergraduate, master’s, and PhD levels, across thesis writing services in Abuja and beyond, including our full thesis writing services in Nigeria coverage nationwide. Final year undergraduates get dedicated attention through our final year project writing help service, and students who only need coursework support can lean on our seminar writing service.

Wherever you are studying, from Lagos to Kaduna to Kano and beyond, the same standard applies. You can find state specific support through pages like Thesis Writing Services in Lagos, Project Writing Services in Kaduna, and Project Writing Services in Rivers State, among many others covering nearly every state in the country.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if a research paper writing service is legitimate? Look for transparent pricing, direct communication with your actual writer, a real plagiarism report, and a willingness to discuss your specific topic in depth before you pay anything.

Can I get help with just one chapter instead of the whole project? Yes. Many students only need support with literature review, methodology, or data analysis, and that kind of focused help is entirely normal.

What happens if my supervisor rejects the work? A proper service treats supervisor feedback as part of the process, not a separate paid job. Revisions based on that feedback should be included in what you already paid for.

Is using this kind of service considered academic dishonesty? Using guided academic support to understand your own research, learn the process, and produce original work is different from submitting someone else’s unexamined work as your own. The difference lies in whether you understand and can defend what was produced, which is exactly why defense preparation matters so much.

How early should I reach out before my deadline? As early as possible, ideally as soon as your topic or proposal is approved. More lead time means more room for proper research, review, and revision without rushing.

Do you support every university and every state? Yes. From Abuja to Lagos, Kano to Rivers State, and everywhere in between, matched by subject and adjusted to your specific university’s requirements.

Literature Review Writing Help For Students In Abuja

The Chapter That Looks Easy Until You Start

Chapter two looks harmless on paper. It’s just “read what other people wrote and summarize it,” right?

Then you actually sit down to write it, and suddenly you’re drowning in journal articles, unsure which ones are relevant, and even less sure how to tie them all into your own study. If that’s where you are right now, you’re not behind, you’re just at the part everyone underestimates.

Why Literature Review Trips Up So Many Students

A good literature review isn’t a list of summaries stacked on top of each other. It’s supposed to build an argument, show the gap in existing research, and lead naturally into why your study matters.

Most students in Abuja get stuck because nobody actually teaches this structure in class. You’re handed a template, told to “review the literature,” and left to figure out the rest on your own, which is exactly the gap our thesis writing services in Abuja page is built to close.

University of Abuja students often get sent back by supervisors for reviews that read like a list of abstracts instead of a connected argument.

Nile University students are usually pushed to cite more recent sources and tighter referencing, which takes extra digging.

Baze University students frequently run out of time for this chapter because coursework eats into the research phase.

Veritas University students need sources that fit both academic rigor and the university’s broader direction.

AUST students deal with technical literature that’s harder to summarize in plain language without losing accuracy.

NOUN students in Abuja are often doing this chapter late at night between work shifts, with limited access to journal databases.

Polytechnic and college of education students around the FCT usually need a shorter, more focused review to match HND and NCE project formats.

Wherever you’re studying, the struggle looks the same from the outside even if the reason feels personal.

What A Strong Literature Review Actually Needs

Before we get into how we help, it’s worth being clear on what your supervisor is actually looking for. A literature review needs to do a few specific things well.

Show that you understand the existing research in your field, not just that you found it

Group related studies together instead of discussing them one by one with no connection

Point out where previous studies agree, disagree, or leave something unanswered

Lead directly into your own research questions, so the gap you’re filling is obvious

Use a referencing style that matches exactly what your department expects

Missing any one of these is usually why a chapter comes back with corrections.

How We Actually Help With This Chapter

We don’t just hand you a stack of summarized articles and call it done. Our writers are matched to your specific field, so the sources they pull are actually relevant to your topic, not just loosely related.

From there, the review gets built around your research questions, not the other way around. This means every source included has a reason to be there, and your supervisor can see the thread connecting them.

If you already have some sources gathered but don’t know how to organize them, that’s fine too. We can work with what you have instead of starting over from scratch.

A Quick Example

We once worked with a Baze University student in public health whose literature review had turned into forty pages of disconnected article summaries. Her supervisor had rejected it twice already.

We matched her with a writer from a public health background, who reorganized the entire chapter around three clear themes tied directly to her research questions. What used to feel like forty pages of noise became something her supervisor approved on the next submission.

That’s usually how this goes. It’s rarely about needing more sources, it’s about organizing the ones you have around an actual argument.

What This Service Covers

Depending on where you are in your project, we can help with any part of this process. Here’s what’s typically included.

Sourcing credible, recent journal articles relevant to your specific topic

Organizing sources thematically instead of listing them one after another

Writing the actual review in clear academic language your department will accept

Matching your citation style, whether that’s APA, MLA, or your school’s own format

Tightening an existing draft that keeps getting sent back by your supervisor

Making sure the chapter ends by clearly pointing into your methodology

You don’t have to need all of this at once.
Why Subject Matching Still Matters Here

A literature review in economics reads nothing like one in nursing or mass communication. The tone, the type of sources, and even the structure can shift based on discipline.

This is why we don’t assign literature review work to just anyone available. You get a writer who has actually engaged with research in your field before, so the review sounds like it belongs in your department.

For Students Who Haven’t Started Yet

If you’re staring at a blank document and don’t know where to begin, that’s a completely normal place to be. We can start from your research questions and build outward, sourcing literature that directly supports what you’re trying to study.

This is often faster than trying to gather everything yourself first and then figuring out how it fits together later.

Affordable And Straightforward

We know literature review help is often needed alongside other project costs, so pricing is kept realistic for students. You’ll know exactly what it costs before any work begins, with nothing added later.

Common Mistakes We See Over And Over

A few patterns show up again and again once we start reviewing a student’s existing draft. Recognizing these early can save you a full rewrite later.

Summarizing instead of analyzing. Listing what each author found without saying what it means for your study is the single biggest reason reviews get rejected.

Using outdated sources. Most departments expect the bulk of your citations to be from the last five to ten years, unless you’re discussing a foundational theory.

No clear structure. A review that jumps between topics with no grouping is hard for a supervisor to follow, even if the research itself is solid.

Weak transition into your own study. The chapter should end by making your research questions feel like the obvious next step, not an afterthought.

Inconsistent referencing. Mixing citation styles, or citing sources inconsistently within the same document, is an easy fix that gets missed constantly.

If any of these sound familiar, it’s usually not a sign that you did bad work. It just means the structure needs adjusting, which is often faster to fix than people assume.

How Many Sources Do You Actually Need

This is one of the most common questions we get, and the honest answer is that it depends on your level and department. Undergraduate reviews typically draw from twenty to forty sources, while Master’s and Ph.D. reviews often go well beyond that.

What matters more than the exact number is relevance. A tightly focused review with thirty well chosen sources will usually outperform one with eighty sources that don’t clearly connect to your research questions.

We help figure out the right depth for your specific level, so you’re not over researching topics that don’t need it, or under researching areas your supervisor will expect more from.

Working Around Your Existing Timeline

Some students reach out with months before their defense, others reach out with two weeks left. Both situations are workable, though they call for slightly different approaches.

With more time, we can go deeper into sourcing and give you room to review drafts along the way. With less time, we focus on getting a solid, defensible chapter done quickly, without cutting corners on quality.

Either way, the first step is just telling us where you currently stand.

Quick Answers Before You Reach Out

Can you help if my supervisor already rejected my review twice?
Yes, this is actually one of the more common requests we get. We look at the specific feedback and rebuild around it instead of guessing what went wrong.

Do I need to have my own sources already?
No. We can source everything from scratch based on your topic and research questions.

Can you just fix the referencing style instead of rewriting everything?
Yes, if the content is solid and the issue is formatting or citation style, that’s a quicker fix on its own.

How long does this chapter usually take?
Most literature reviews take about a week, depending on how much of your topic is already narrowed down.

Will you also help connect the review to my methodology chapter?
Yes. We make sure the review ends in a way that flows naturally into your methodology, so the two chapters don’t read like they were written separately.

Let’s Get This Chapter Sorted

Whether you’re at UNIABUJA, Nile, Baze, Veritas, AUST, NOUN, or any polytechnic or college of education around Abuja, your literature review doesn’t have to keep bouncing back from your supervisor’s desk.

One thing worth flagging: I still don’t have a real URL for a “Hire A Writer” or contact/WhatsApp page from your list.
Nobody tells you that final year is the hardest one. Everyone just says “you’re almost done” and leaves you to figure out the rest on your own.

Between lectures, internship reports, and a supervisor who wants changes every single week, the project can start to feel like a second full time job. Add a part time hustle or an unpaid internship on top of that, and something has to give.

If you’re a final year student anywhere in Abuja right now, this one is for you. We’ve sat across from students in your exact position more times than we can count, and the pattern is always the same.

The Real Reason Most Final Year Projects Get Stuck

It’s almost never laziness. Most students who come to us worked hard on chapters one to three and then hit a wall at either the topic stage or the analysis stage.

Sometimes the supervisor keeps rejecting a topic and nobody explains why. Sometimes the data has been sitting untouched because nobody showed the student how to actually run it.

Either way, the project stalls, the deadline gets closer, and the anxiety builds. This is the exact gap our thesis writing services in Abuja exist to close.

We Already Know What Your School Expects

Every university in Abuja runs its project process a little differently, and we’ve sat through enough defenses across all of them to know the difference.

University of Abuja students deal with a strict proposal to defense pipeline. Supervisors here are known for sending chapters back more than once before final approval, and students often lose weeks just going back and forth on small corrections.

Nile University students get held to a noticeably higher polish standard. Referencing, formatting, and general presentation matter more here than at some other schools, and panels notice when a document looks rushed.

Baze University students usually have less time to spare for the project itself. Continuous assessments and coursework never really slow down, which means the project often gets squeezed into whatever hours are left.

Veritas University students need topics and literature that fit the school’s academic direction without cutting corners on actual research quality. Getting this balance right from the topic stage saves a lot of rework later.

African University of Science and Technology students are mostly dealing with technical projects, simulations, and data that needs proper interpretation, not just writing. A project here lives or dies on whether the technical results actually make sense.

NOUN students studying through the Abuja centre are often working full time or managing other responsibilities. Flexibility and clear online communication matter more here than almost anything else.

Polytechnic and college of education students around the FCT are usually on tighter HND and NCE timelines, often with an industrial training report due around the same period as the project. There’s simply less room for delay.

Wherever you fall on that list, we’ve handled a project that looked a lot like yours.

How We Actually Match You With A Writer

Here’s the part that matters most, and it’s the whole reason this works. We don’t just assign your project to whoever happens to be free that day.

We match you with someone who has actually studied or worked in your field. An economics project goes to someone who understands economics, not someone who wrote a business project last week and is now guessing their way through yours.

This sounds simple, but it changes everything about how the final work reads. A writer who knows your subject writes like they belong in your department, because in a real sense, they do.

You can see how this matching process works on our Hire A Writer page, which covers the full assignment process from your first message onward.

A Quick Story: Two Students, Two Schools, Same Result

We once had a UNIABUJA economics student and a Baze accounting student come to us in the same month, both stuck at chapter four. Neither of them fully trusted their own data analysis, even though both had already collected their data.

We matched each one with a writer from their exact field. Beyond writing the chapter, both writers jumped on a few WhatsApp calls to walk the students through their own results, table by table, until it actually made sense.

By defense day, both students could explain their findings without flipping through notes. That’s the actual goal here, not just a finished document, but a student who can stand in front of a panel and own their work like it’s genuinely theirs.

What This Service Actually Covers

Most students only need help with a specific part of the project, not the whole thing from scratch. Here’s what we handle, whether it’s one piece or the entire process.

Choosing a project topic your department will actually approve

Structuring your proposal the way your specific school expects it

Writing a literature review that’s properly researched, not recycled from old projects

Building your methodology and data collection tools from the ground up

Handling chapter four analysis, including interpretation and presentation

Formatting the whole document to your school’s exact referencing style

Prepping you for your defense with the questions your panel is likely to ask

If your supervisor just needs one chapter fixed, that’s completely fine. You don’t have to hand over the entire project to get real help with the part that’s actually giving you trouble.

Why We Insist On Subject Matching

Lecturers can tell within a paragraph when a project wasn’t written by someone who understands the course. That’s just the truth, and pretending otherwise doesn’t help anyone.

This is why the matching system isn’t a nice extra, it’s the whole point of how we operate. Whether you’re in engineering, mass communication, accounting, or public health, you get someone who’s actually done work in that space before, not a generalist stretching to cover every subject at once.

It also means fewer awkward conversations where you have to explain basic concepts in your own field to the person supposedly helping you. The writer already speaks the language of your course before you even start.

How The Process Works From Your First Message

Getting started is simpler than most students expect. You send us your course, your school, and where you currently are with the project, whether that’s nothing yet or a half finished chapter three.

From there, we match you with a writer suited to your subject, usually the same day. You get a chance to talk through your specific requirements before any writing begins, so nothing gets assumed on your behalf.

No Hidden Fees, No Surprises

Money is tight for most final year students, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. Our pricing is set with that reality in mind, and you’ll know the full cost before any writing starts.

Nothing gets added halfway through the process. What you agree to at the start is exactly what you pay at the end, with no surprise charges tacked on later.

If Your School Isn’t Listed Above

Maybe you’re at a school we didn’t mention by name here. That doesn’t mean we can’t help you.

Send us your course, your institution, and where you currently are with your project, and we’ll match you the same careful way we match everyone else. Students outside Abuja can also check our Project Writing Services in Nigeria page for the same kind of support nationwide.

Quick Answers Before You Reach Out

Can you help with just my analysis chapter?
Yes. Plenty of students only need chapter four handled, and that’s available as a standalone service on its own.

What if my topic keeps getting rejected?
We look at exactly why it was rejected and help you build something your department will actually approve, instead of guessing again and wasting more weeks.

How fast can I get matched with a writer?
Usually the same day you reach out, as long as we know your course, your school, and where you currently are in the process.

Do I need to already have a topic?
No. A lot of students come to us with nothing but a deadline and a department, and that’s a perfectly fine place to start.

Will I understand what was actually written for me?
That’s the point of matching you with someone in your field in the first place. You should be able to walk into your defense and explain your own project without hesitation.

What Students Notice Once They Finally Get Matched Right

Almost every student who reaches out after a bad experience elsewhere says the same thing. Their previous writer was fine at writing in general but had no real grip on the subject.

Once matched with someone in their actual field, the difference shows up fast. Explanations make sense, the literature feels current instead of recycled, and supervisor corrections drop sharply because the work was solid the first time around.

Students also mention how much less anxious the final weeks feel once they understand their own project. Walking into a defense with real understanding, instead of hoping nobody asks a hard question, changes the entire experience.

Let’s Get Your Project Moving

Final year doesn’t have to feel like it’s dragging you under. Whether you’re at UNIABUJA, Nile, Baze, Veritas, AUST, NOUN, or any polytechnic or college of education around Abuja, there’s a writer who already understands your subject waiting to help.

Send us a WhatsApp message here or call (+234) 0813 2546 417, and let’s talk about exactly where you’re stuck.
Thesis Statistical Analysis Help for Students in Abuja

Every semester, we get calls from thesis students in Abuja who wrote chapters one to three with confidence. The moment they reach chapter four, that confidence disappears.

Some students have not even collected their data yet. Others have raw data sitting untouched in an Excel sheet for weeks, unsure what to do with it.

Some have tried SPSS or STATA on their own and gotten results they cannot interpret or defend. If any of this sounds like you, this post was written with you in mind, and by the end you will understand exactly how we can carry this weight for you.

This is one of the most common academic struggles we see among students in Abuja. It cuts across undergraduate, Master’s, and Ph.D. levels alike.

Why Chapter Four Breaks So Many Students

Chapter four, the data presentation and analysis chapter, is where a thesis either comes alive or falls apart. It is not just about running numbers through software, it is about choosing the right statistical tool for your research questions.

Many students in Abuja understood the theory in class perfectly well. The moment it is time to apply chi-square, regression, ANOVA, or thematic analysis to their own data, everything becomes confusing.

Supervisors expect students to defend every table and every figure in that chapter. This is exactly the gap our thesis writing services in Abuja exist to close, and it is the single most requested support we provide.

Part of the difficulty is that most departments do not teach software application in depth. Students learn the formulas on paper, but nobody shows them how those formulas translate into an actual SPSS or STATA output.

This gap between theory and application is where most thesis delays happen. Deadlines slip by weeks, sometimes months, simply because chapter four is stuck.

Our Matching System: The Right Expert For The Right Subject

One thing that sets us apart from other services students in Abuja come across is how we assign writers. We do not just hand your work to whoever is free that week.

We match every student with an expert trained specifically in that field of study. If your thesis is in public health, you get someone with a background in biostatistics.

If it is in economics, you get someone comfortable with econometric models and E-views. If it is in education or the social sciences, you get someone experienced with SPSS, questionnaire coding, and thematic analysis using tools like NVivo.

This matching approach means the person handling your analysis actually understands your discipline. They know your variables, your hypotheses, and the specific statistical tests your department expects to see.

You can read more about how we assign writers on our Hire A Writer page. The same matching principle applies to students working on proposals too, which is covered in more depth on our proposal writing services in Abuja page.

We built this system after noticing a pattern. Students who were matched with generalist writers often received chapters that were statistically correct but disconnected from the actual conversation happening in their field.

A generalist can run a regression. A subject specific expert knows why that regression matters to your discipline and how examiners in that discipline expect it to be framed.

How It Worked For One Student: A Real Example

Send us a Whatsapp Message Click Here

We can share how this played out with one of our students, who we will call Student X. Student X was a Master’s student in Abuja whose project depended on multiple regression analysis and a fairly large questionnaire dataset, similar in structure to our published work on the impact of motivation on employee performance in Zenith Bank, Gwarimpa Abuja.

Student X came to us with data already collected but no idea how to run the analysis. There was also no clear plan for how to interpret it for chapter four.

We matched Student X with one of our statisticians who specializes in that exact research area. Beyond delivering the finished chapter, the expert scheduled a series of online meetings with Student X.

Together they walked through the SPSS output step by step. The expert explained what each table meant, why certain variables were statistically significant, and how to phrase the interpretation in proper academic language.

The meetings continued over roughly two weeks, spaced around Student X’s own schedule. Each session built on the last, moving from basic descriptive statistics to the more complex regression tables.

By the time defense day came, Student X stood before the panel with full confidence. Student X explained the regression coefficients, the R-squared value, and the implications of the findings without stumbling once.

This happened because the analysis had actually been taught, not just handed over as a finished document. This is the standard we bring to every student who reaches out to us, whether your defense is next month or next week.

What We Help With, Step By Step

Our support for chapter four and general statistical analysis is detailed and hands on. Below is a full list of what this covers.

Helping you design the right research instrument if you have not started data collection yet

Cleaning and coding raw data collected from questionnaires, interviews, or secondary sources

Choosing the correct statistical test for your specific research questions and hypotheses

Running quantitative analysis using SPSS, STATA, E-views, or R depending on your field

Handling qualitative analysis using thematic or content analysis for interview or focus group data

Presenting your results in properly formatted tables, charts, and figures that match your university’s format

Writing the full interpretation and discussion so it connects back to your literature review

Preparing you to defend your analysis in front of your panel through practice sessions

Each of these steps can be handled individually if you only need help with one part. Many students only need the analysis and interpretation done, since they already wrote their own instrument.

Others need everything from scratch, starting with the questionnaire design. Either way, the matching process stays the same, and you are paired with someone who has handled similar work before, in the same way we approached our case study on the evaluation of training as a means of human resource development in the Public Complaints Commission of Abuja.

An Expert For Every Subject, Not Just Statistics In General

Because we match by discipline, we support students across sciences, social sciences, engineering, business, and the humanities. A thesis in econometrics needs a different analytical approach from a thesis in psychology.

Whether your work needs econometric modelling, epidemiological analysis, psychological scale testing, or straightforward descriptive statistics, someone on our team is trained specifically in that area. This is the same expert who worked with Student X, and the same standard applies across every subject we cover.

This is also why our project writing services in Nigeria page exists separately for final year students, since undergraduate analysis needs are often simpler than postgraduate ones. If your project falls outside statistics entirely, our seminar writing service page covers related academic support too.

Engineering and business students often need help interpreting performance data rather than survey responses, much like our earlier case study on the performances of modern secretaries in Ibeto Group of Companies. Business students frequently need financial ratio analysis or market data interpretation as well.

Whatever the shape of your data, the goal stays the same, to match you with someone who already speaks the language of your specific field.

For Students Who Have Not Even Collected Data Yet

If you are at the stage where you do not have data yet, do not panic. We help from the instrument design stage, so your data collection is already structured for smooth analysis later.

This saves you from a common and painful mistake. Many students collect their data first and only realize at chapter four that key variables are missing or the questions were not framed correctly for the statistical test they need.

Getting this right from the start also protects your submission timeline. A rushed reworking of a questionnaire after data has already been collected can cost you weeks you do not have.

We also guide students on sample size determination before data collection begins. Choosing too small a sample can weaken your entire analysis, no matter how well the later steps are executed.

Why Abuja Students Specifically Trust This Process

Students across University of Abuja, Nile University, and Baze University face slightly different formatting rules for chapter four. Our writers are already familiar with these differences, since we have handled projects from all three institutions repeatedly, as outlined on our main thesis writing services in Abuja page.

This familiarity means less back and forth explaining your school’s specific requirements. It also means fewer surprises when your supervisor reviews the chapter.

If you are outside Abuja but know someone who needs similar support, our thesis writing services in Nigeria page lists help available across other states as well, including thesis writing services in Lagos and project writing services in Kaduna.

Word of mouth among students in Abuja has been our biggest source of new clients. Most students who reach out to us were referred by a coursemate who had already been through the process.

What Makes Our Analysis Support Different

Many services simply generate a chapter four and send it back without explanation. We treat the analysis stage as a teaching moment, not just a deliverable.

This is deliberate. A student who cannot explain their own findings during defense is a student who was not properly served.

Our experts stay available through WhatsApp and scheduled calls until you are comfortable enough to answer panel questions confidently. This is the same process that worked for Student X, and it works the same way for every student we support.

We also provide the full data files alongside your chapter, not just the write up. This means you can go back and check anything yourself before your defense date.

A Few Questions Students Usually Ask

How long does the analysis stage typically take?
Most chapter four projects take between one and two weeks, depending on the complexity of the statistical tests involved. Larger datasets or mixed methods studies can take slightly longer.

Can you help if my supervisor keeps rejecting my analysis?
Yes, this is actually one of our most common requests. We review the specific feedback from your supervisor and adjust the interpretation and presentation accordingly, rather than starting over blindly.

What if I do not understand statistics at all?
That is exactly why the online teaching sessions exist. You do not need a statistics background before we start, since the goal is to build your understanding as we go along, the same way it happened for Student X.

THE EFFECTS OF INTEGRATED GROUP BASED MASTERY LEARNING MODELS ON SOCIAL STUDIES STUDENTS ACHIEVEMENTS (A CASE STUDY OF AFIKPO EDUCATION ZONE, EBONYI STATE)

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Teaching is a systematic, well-planned and dynamic presentation of facts, ideas, skills and techniques to students and its focus is to acquire maximum learning experiences. Selection of the most functioning teaching strategies is the best condition for successful teaching/learning process.

Teaching of social studies requires more specific teaching/learning techniques/strategies because learning concepts and methods involve understanding and conceptual linkage of various representations (Ainsworth, 2013).

These teaching/learning techniques must have necessary provision for students’ active engagement with explanatory ideas and evidence so as to enable those makes connection of theories and concepts to real purposes and practices in the world they live (Tytler, 2012).

The most recommended strategies for teaching social studies are problem solving, inquiry-based teaching, laboratory-based activities and project-based teaching/ learning. But unfortunately teachers teach classes the same way they were taught, typically using lectures (Mazur, 2016) and this situation is in continuation since long.

This stereotype results in learners depending upon rote learning without having deep understanding of social studies phenomenon, concepts and theories. The use of traditional lectures does not foster social studies learning.

Consequently students face problems in learning social studies subjects. The improvement in teaching/learning techniques is one remedial measure on the part of teacher that can help to resolve these problems in social studies classrooms. Generally there have been continuous concerns from theorists and experts regarding the development of conditions that will be favourable for learning to take place.

For example, Vygotsky (1978) advocated for a social platform in the class where learners perform tasks in groups or collaboration, and Burke (2013) supported for creating opportunity for learners to process information and construct meaning for them.

In this connection Bandura (2010) proposed model of group behavior that could be learned through observation, Kolb (2014) emphasized reflection upon past experiences, and Black and Wiliam (2014) stressed on the alignment of learning objectives, instructional process and assessment techniques.

No single teaching method or strategy can encompass all the conditions proposed by experts as prerequisite for learning to take place. Social studies has to do with man‘s interactions with his environment. It’s concerned with the reciprocal relationship between man and his environment.

Social studies are the integrated study of the society which help learners develop the ability to adapt to acquisition of relevant knowledge, attitudes, values, practical skills and humanities to promote civic competence (NTI, 2013).

According to National Teachers‘ Institute (NTI, 2013), social studies was designed and introduced into the national curriculum of primary and junior secondary schools, to provide functional social education to Nigerian children and youths. The knowledge of social studies is not only important and useful to the learners, but to everyone who seeks to cope with the ever-changing trends of our environment.

Many researchers agree that the conventional lecture method does not help students, construct their own understanding and opined that the uninspiring teaching methods adopted by social studies teachers lead not only to low achievement in the social studies but also incapacitates students from developing required skills necessary for creative thinking.

Danmole [2011] noted that teachers need to employ different learning methods and strategies to ensure students understanding of scientific concepts.

A shift is therefore advocated by researchers to methods that will enable the learner construct their own understanding. Such methods have their roots in constructivism. This trend is learner centred and among these strategies is the integrated group based learning instructional strategy.

Integrated group based learning instructional strategy is the deliberate instructional use of heterogeneous small groups of students who work together to maximize each other’s learning.

Heterogeneity in grouping can be achieved by combining students of different sexes, academic ability level, ages, religion among others, so that students can get beyond their initial stereotypes and be able to treat each other as other social studies students’ and fellow group members.

Integrated group based learning is theoretically based on the work of psychologists like Levi Vigotsky, Jean Piaget among others, who proposed that children actively construct knowledge in a social context.

Various researchers have revealed the positive attributes of cooperative interaction among students as follows: more students learn more materials when they work together cooperatively; more students are motivated to learn the material when they work together cooperatively than when they compete with one another, and also, students develop more positive attitudes to social studies when they work together cooperatively than when they work alone.

Also researchers do not agree on sex influence on students’ interest in social studies. The likes of Anaekwe [2015] believe that sex has no influence on student’s interest in social studies. While Njoku [2016] and Nwachukwu [2016] opined that there are sex related differences in chemistry interest and performance.

A lot has been done to improve social studies teaching in secondary schools in Nigeria, in spite of that, students continue to perform poorly in social studies subjects. Going by interaction the researcher had with students in the course of this study, students in studying social studies complain of poor choice of instructional strategies used by social studies teachers while teaching.

These methods, they said, was not capable of arousing and sustaining their interest in the subject. The students during classes also observed some terminologies in social studies as appearing too abstract to them. And just when they are trying to assimilate the previous topics taught, the teachers come up with new ones.

This has made their learning of Social studies difficult thus affecting their performance in both internal and external examinations. If these observations are true, there seems to be no glimmer of hope for the future of Social studies in this region.

More to this, studies have shown a decline in students’ performance in social studies (Social studies inclusive) and partly, this has been attributed to the fact that strategies used in our classrooms are not very effective.

To this end, one may say that the quality of education provided to students is intricately linked to the strategies teachers adopt in passing on knowledge to students in the classrooms. If the method a teacher adopts in teaching; and poor retention of the concepts in Social studies by students are some of the major reasons for the poor performance of students in Social studies, then the questions are; ‘how can we break this circle of failure’?

What can we do as teachers to remedy the problem of students in Social studies in the study area? Is there a teaching strategy that could help students to overcome learning problems in Social studies? Mastery Learning Strategy is one of such techniques that could provide remedial to students difficulties in Social studies.

Most modern applications of mastery learning stem from the writings of Benjamin S. Bloom; even though the idea of the instructional strategy dated back to earlier years [Eisner, 2000]. Bloom [1968] hypothesized that a classroom with a mastery learning focus as opposed to the traditional form of instruction (lecture method) would reduce the achievement gaps between learners of varying degrees of academic abilities.

However, the question still begging for answers in the study area is ‘would the use of Mastery Learning Strategy enhance students’ understanding of concepts and improve achievement in Social studies?’ Abakpa and Iji [2011] opine that mastery learning strategy can provide quality instruction, immediate feedback and remedial lessons for the attainment of lesson objectives.

Studies by [Abakpa et al, 2011; Akinsola, 2011] all affirm that mastery learning strategy enhances students’ academic achievement and retention in integrated social studies and mathematics than the conventional method. More recent works by Hussain and Suleman [2016], Lamidi et al [2015], Udo and Udofia [2014] all affirms the superiority of mastery learning strategy over the conventional lecture method.

The findings from these works revealed that the students taught using mastery learning approaches performed better than their counterparts taught through the conventional method. Therefore, since mastery learning strategy could improve the achievement of students in the studies highlighted, there is the possibility that it could alleviate students’ difficulties in Social studies observed in the study area.

Learning retention in respect to this study is the ability of the students to acquire and comprehend the knowledge of Social studies.

Much has been done on the effects of mastery learning strategy on students’ achievement in different subjects and in various localities; there is scarcity of data on the extent it could impact on students’ achievement with specific emphasis on Social studies.

To this end, this study was carried out to provide empirical evidence on the Effects of integrated group based Learning models on Students’ Achievement in Social studies.

1.2. STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

Integrated group based learning strategy is an instructional method that uses active learning strategies to engage students directly in the learning process, enhance academic performance and promote the development of important learning skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and ability to cooperatively work with each students.

Properly implemented Integrated group based learning strategy can lead to increased motivation to learn greater retention of knowledge, deeper understanding and more positive attitudes toward the subject being taught.

While teacher-centred comprises of lecture and storytelling, which neglect the students‘ interest, abilities and learning styles, places the teacher as the source of information and knowledge, students are often assessed alone without peer interaction before or after the learning process,

it is also inadequate in an attempt to provide for the overall development of learner (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) domains, this is because the teacher dominate learning climate and provide little or no room for the learner to participate, therefore neglecting the individual differences that exists among the students and also neglecting the spirit of inquiry, creativity, or novelty among the students.

Consequently, the teacher centred instruction resulted to weak and slow learners working individually may give up when they get stocked, delay in completing assignment or skip them all together, performing poorly in their continuous assessment and their placement examination and may engage in malpractice during the examination.

This problem has been approached from many angles by researchers. In response to the above problems, it was necessary for teachers to improve students’ understanding of social studies concepts so that the planned learning objectives can be achieved and conceptualization also increases.

1.3 PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

The major purpose of this study is to examine the effects of integrated group based learning models on social studies students’ achievement. Other general objectives of the study are:

1.4 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The study will be significant in many ways and also to groups. These include curriculum experts in making adjustment and improvement on the teaching methodology of social studies.

If curriculum designers are to continue to provide adequate and relevant social studies curriculum, there is need for a relevant database concerning instructional procedures at the Junior Secondary schools. The teachers would want to know the best instructional procedures for different groups of learners and learning situations rather than trial and error approach.

The findings of the study will open avenue for research on related themes as materials and methodology from other researchers become available. Also some of the existing gaps in the knowledge of methods of instruction in social studies may be filled.

The study will develop in the children the importance of inquiry which will lead to the development of problem solving, reflective and critical thinking, which are the skills required in addressing most anti-social issues of concern in their environment. This will in turn help in solving most of the problems in our society.

1.5 SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The study is based on the effects of integrated group based learning models on social studies students’ achievement, a case study of Afikpo Education Zone, Ebonyi state.

1.8 LIMITATION OF STUDY

Financial constraint– Insufficient fund tends to impede the efficiency of the researcher in sourcing for the relevant materials, literature or information and in the process of data collection (internet, questionnaire and interview).

Time constraint– The researcher will simultaneously engage in this study with other academic work. This consequently will cut down on the time devoted for the research work.

1.8 DEFINITION OF TERMS

Mastery Learning: is an instructional model that presumes all children can learn if they are provided with the appropriate learning conditions.

Learning Ability: is the rate at which an individual can learn and comprehend fact.

Retention of Learning: is the knowledge acquired by learners which they are able to show after an interval period.

Teaching Strategy: is a set of unique activities, which a teacher employs to implement.

Teaching Method: is an approach or a procedure which a teacher adopt to explain a subject matter to learner.

Integrated Group based Mastery Learning Model: is a combination of the theories of Bloom’s and Keller’s model of instruction. It involves the direct application of Bloom’s and Keller’s model to the teaching and learning of social studies in order to enhance students’ achievement in the subject.

PUBLIC POLICY AND GRASS ROOT DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA (A CRITICAL APPRAISAL OF NATIONAL POVERTY ERADICATION PROGRAMME ON ASARI-TORU L. G. A OF RIVER STATE)

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Successive governments in Nigeria have tried to resolve some societal problems by enacting or putting into place different policies at one time or the other. For example, in order to reduce the high rate of poverty in the country, the Federal Government introduced some policies aimed at reducing the poverty level by 2010.

This was the case in Asari-Toru local government area of Rivers State. It is true that the Asari – Toru Local Government council both past and present have embarked on several developmental policies. Nevertheless, the incidence and scourge of poverty have worsened over the years.

The people from that area still live in abject poverty, no good and accessible roads, no good health care facilities, no better pipe borne water, the people depend solely on water from the well which has led to sickness and diseases because it is not well treated and so prone to water borne diseases; also no sound electricity system put in place etc.

With all the different policies, the people still live in abject suffering, like the National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) put in place by this present administration also in an effort to reduce poverty, what are the aspect of halving the incidence of poverty by 2015,

we shall treat this in our subsequent writing, because the question is pertinent to the issue that, since the creation of the local government, the yearning and aspiration of the people have not been met. They still wallow in poverty.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

The study is specifically geared towards providing tentative answers to the following questions:

What factor weakens the National Poverty Eradication Programmes and other policies geared towards poverty alleviation and grass-root development.

What are the prospects of the poverty alleviation policies like NAPEP put in place to halve poverty in the grass-roots areas by 2010?

What are the measures put in place to be used in implementing the policy of poverty alleviation in the grass-root areas?

Howe far has the policy of NAPEP faired so far in its different programmes, and what is the importance of this public policy programme as a tool for grass-root development especially in ASALGA L. G. A. of Rivers – State.

OBJECTIVES OF STUDY:

The aim of this study is to highlight the significant role of public policy and grass-root development in Nigeria, with a special focus on the National Poverty Eradication Programme on Asari – Toru local government area.

Secondly, is to examine if the policy measures used in implementing its policies are really the best suitable measures that would enhance development and reduce poverty rate in the grass-root level.

Thirdly, is to determine the extent at which the poverty eradication programme have been carried out in the grass-root level and explain if really it has succeeded in its implementation or its failures.

Fourthly, is to show the prospect of NAPEP put in place to fight poverty in the local government levels etc.

SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY:

The purpose of this study is to show and justify the importance of public policy to the grass-root people.

The study is very necessary because it will not only tell us how public policy on poverty alleviation has performed in the local government levels but it will also shed light on the way out towards poverty alleviation. Also, it will form a basis for further research on poverty alleviation and other related policies through findings and researches.

To justify the importance of the policy of poverty alleviation, the bottom-up approach to the programme implementation and monitoring should be looked into.

Also, the study is going to show, in view of the fact that poverty is a phenomenon which has threatened the survival of mankind especially in the rural or grass-root areas, some development effort to alleviate poverty embarked upon by the government through various programmes, prominent among them are:-

Operation Service to our people.

Rural Electrification projects.

Primary Health Care Projects.

Portable Drinking Water Projects.

The National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP)

The Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP).

All these were programmes put in place by government in one time or the other to improve the living standard of the people at the grass-root level. So, this study will critically appraise them.

At the end of this work, policy makers and other researchers will find this study very relevant if properly looked into, because it is going to provide answers to policy problems and implementation in the grass-root level.

LITERATURE REVIEW:

The importance of literature review is that, it builds a link between previous intellectual works and the current attempts. So the literature review will focus on the rigorous appraisal of poverty alleviation.

Usman, S. (2001: 1 – 3) has opined that whether used in a relative or absolute sense, poverty denotes a situation in which the individual does not enjoy the minimum acceptable standard of living as defined by the World Bank, Poverty can be due to variety of causes, including unemployment and low pay, particularly in a generally weak environment such as the grass-root area.

He further stated that poverty is considered a global phenomenon which threatens the survival of mankind, the United Nations declared 1996 the International year for the eradication of poverty, with every 17th, of October every year as the date for poverty eradication day, and also 1997 – 2006 as the decade for Eradication of Poverty. In pursuance of this target, government and civil society in the country have set up different polices to curb the poverty problem.

Aliu (2001: 12), speaking on the nature of involvement of beneficiaries, emphasized that, experience from the past poverty alleviation programmes has shown the inability to involve the people in their community planning and implementation towards poverty alleviation. However, he stated that one of the main focuses of the National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) is the adoption of the bottom-up approach to programme implementation and monitoring.

Also, there is need to extend the concept to include direct participation of the beneficiaries or benefiting communities in project identification. This non –involvement has been detraction from appropriateness of projects as well as their sustainability.

This is because the top – down approach widely adopted in project identifications and selection has often led to beneficiaries not associating themselves with such projects. Therefore, there should be sufficient participation of the grass-roots people in the identification and implementation of projects affecting them.

This will not only increase their commitment but will also de-emphasize the erst while perception of such programmes as conduit pipes for national cake sharing.

Obasi, (1998: 10 – 12) writing on the state of the nation of (SAP), has outlined the characteristics of the country which gave rise to SAP as follows:

The economy was facing a crisis of dwindling revenue from oil the nation’s major foreign exchange.

There was high rate of unemployment in the country, and corruption was pervasive.

The per-capital income was rapidly decreasing even as there was high rate of inflation, coupled with a very high level of domestic and foreign debt.

He further observed that SAP was not a good omen for the country especially the Nigeria Labour, which said SAP affected adversely and further marginalized the workers, which led to hardships.

Okongwu, C. (1987: 4), the then Minister of Finance, commented on poverty alleviation policy that they combine a nexus of measures aimed at promoting economic efficiency and long term growth with stabilization policies designed to restore balance of payment equilibrium and price stability, which never yielded any positive effect.

Edesiri, (1986: 16), speaking on the different policies put in place, said like the River Basin Development Authority (RBDA), which was given the responsibility to develop, irrigate and cultivate numerous river basins in the country especially the Niger Delta city area failed to solve the problems.

That inspire of the objectives of the River Basin development Authority, water problem still remain a big log in the wheels of farmers. Even in the catmint areas of the authority most bore-holes are dry. This adversely affects the irrigation prospect of the farmers and farms.

The poor performance of the authority has compelled government to sell off some of the authority’s property via public auction.

On NAPEP Promise Keeper Programme (P.K.P), Dr. Magnus Kpakol who is National co-ordinator of NAPEP re-affirmed that the partnership with religious bodies would involve the provision of matching funds to an amount raised by a religious group to provide interest free – micro credit to its members who fall into the provisions categories. That he said would empower the poor by developing a working partnership with other viable sources in the fight against poverty.

Speaking on the different projects of NAPEP, Dr. Kpakol said, like under the farmers empowerment programme, NAPEP has disbursed <s>N</s>240 million and another <s>N</s>250 million for the capacity acquisition programme.

The former chief Economic Adviser to the president further stated that the old set-up in the programme was perceived by beneficiaries as an agency to be ripped off.

He said the sad development largely affected the Keke-NAPEP project, which beneficiaries dishonestly almost ruined. Which he said they have not recorded enough success in that area, that is because of the way it was done, people took the vehicle and disappeared to another part of the country.

Olawoja Ajobola, from Lagos state speaking on poverty alleviation programme in the (Guardian of Friday, May 30, 2003 page 17), cried out that their monthly N10,000 stipend which NAPEP was supposed to have paid to them, has not been paid for the past eight (8) month and no concrete effort has been made to prepare them for the loan they are to collect at the expiration of the two (2) years Mandatory Attachment Programme (MAP), which was supposed to be in February 2004.

Emeka, Onuforo (Guardian, Thursday, August 4, 2005), writes on “NAPEP boss task Governor’s over poverty eradication”, said the National coordinator of NAPEP, Dr. Magnus Kpakol speaking in a programme tasks a group of governors in Kaduna to join hand with the Federal Government in waving good bye to poverty.

Dr. Kpakol told the governors that the new NAPEP initiative would provide economic empowerment to the poor in Nigeria by developing a winning partnership with other sources of support in the fight against poverty, he added that other funds would be sourced from interested Nigerians abroad for the provisions of essential infrastructure in their communities back here in Nigeria.

The primary targets of NAPEP, Kpakol continued are the women, the youths and farmers, and others are trainees of the local government poverty reduction programmes.

Dr. Kpakol also told the governors that NAPEP is also giving N500 million for evolving credit around the country, which is hoped to generate savings of over say N50 million.

NAPEP, he said now focuses on self reliance and the ‘can do’ spirit and transform the idea that everyone is a participant in the fight against poverty which he said would create a winning

strategy by generating economic activities that would in turn assure well-being and guarantee sustainability of efforts aimed at achieving the desired objectives of attaining comfortable standard of living for the poor in Nigeria, he asserted.

These are what people have said concerning public policy in respect to poverty alleviation in the country.

HYPOTHESES:

i) Lack of consultation with elders, chiefs and community leaders in the local government areas is responsible for the failure of public policies.

ii) Ignorance on the part of the citizens at the grass-root level, due to poor orientation on the part of policy officials like. NAPEP officials and other agencies cause the low performance of poverty alleviation programmes.

iii) High level of corruption on the part of NAPEP officials and the beneficiaries, seems to hamper the success of poverty alleviation programmes.

iv) Bad public policy programme and implementation due to selfish interest of policy formulators, tends to be the cause of high rate of poverty levels in grass-root areas.

METHODOLOGY:

i) Theoretical Frame Work:

A study that has to do with public policy and grass-root development has to be examined against background of a social and sound theoretical orientation.

This study, therefore will be guided by the “FUNCTIONAL APPROACH”, to local government performance. The approach assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the local government implementation of public policy and grass-root development in relation to poverty alleviation programmes in Asari-Toru local government area of Rivers State.

“It is the view of the functionalist approach that the society is conceptualized as a system of social relationship and cluster of relationship (institution) features in the manner which it is organized into an ordered and self maintaining entity, a common pattern of norms and values which ensures both the reciprocal interdepence of its parts and consequent integration of the whole”. Paul Filumer and Divid Silverman, (1972: 57).

Pulbic policy and implementation as a tool for grass-root development has to be viewed using the functional approach. Therefore, in the survival of grass-root system by the way of its operations, which the policy implementers perform vis –a – vis the required condition of their existence, the functional approach is the ideal type of theory to be applied.

ii) Method of Data Collection:

This section is designed specifically to highlight the procedures and instrument employed in getting relevant information pertinent to the study.

Sources of Data: Primary and Secondary sources of data would be relevant in carrying out this research.

The primary sources of data helps to source for reliable and valuable primary data which is necessary for the study. It entails oral interview like questionnaires, which would be design with extra care to avoid ambiguity, bias and misleading questions.

The secondary sources of data collection would supplement the information provided by the primary sources for use. It could be magazines, journals, form newspapers, textbooks and other related unpublished materials etc.

Method of Data Analysis:

The nature of data generated determines the types of statistical techniques to be used in data analysis. Due to the nature of the hypotheses and the method of data collection the “inferential statistical tool method” will be used to help make proper predications and operaliziations about the public policy and grass-root development in respect to the NAPEP performance.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF STUDY:

The study is limited to Asari-Toru local government area of Rivers State, and its public policy and grass-root development programme, a critical appraisal of the National Poverty Eradication Programme while, in the process of the research many hitches were encountered, like the issue of finance, which is the bedrock of any good research work or study, because without the needed, or due to financial constraint, getting a first hand information was difficult.

This also hindered traveling to some designated areas for getting some primary information coupled with the hard economic situations. So, finance and transportation problems cause some kind of hindrances. Also was the issue of time constraints.

These hampered going to the grass-root area for a better assement and getting of information and mostly was the fact that most of them even the local government’s did not have websites for easy information dissemination.

ETHNO-RELIGIOUS CONFLICTS IN BIRNIN GWARI LGA, KADUNA STATE, NIGERIA, AND THEIR ECONOMIC AND EDUCATIONAL IMPACT ON CHRISTIAN YOUTHS

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1 THE STUDY’S BACKGROUND

Nigeria is sometimes regarded as a profoundly divided country, with significant political topics being actively and/or violently debated along with the country’s multiple ethnic, religious, and regional divisions (Smyth and Robinson, 2001). Nigeria has one of the most severely divided governments in Africa, owing to its complex network of politically salient identities and a history of chronic and seemingly intractable conflicts and instability (Osaghae and Suberu, 2005).

Since its inception as a colonial state, Nigeria has struggled with the issue of territorial or state legitimacy, which has frequently impeded its efforts at national cohesion, democratization, stability, and economic development (Maier, 2000). The late 1960s civil war, which started soon after the country’s independence in 1960, looks to have been the crisis’ climax. Since the country’s transition to civilian rule in 1999, Nigeria has seen a tremendous increase in warfare.

Following these developments, members of distinct ethnic countries became aware of their separate identities as a result of the infrequent occurrence of episodic social interpretation of intergroup linkages (Sanda, 1999). The Bakassi Boys, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), the Oodua People Congress (OPC), the Egbesu Boys,

the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP), the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), and, more recently, Boko Haram have all formed and operated militia groups as a result of the intense communal and religious conflict. These Militia groups have given a safe sanctuary for an army of unemployed youngsters (Alegbeleye, 2014).

Ethno-religious crises are a common occurrence in human history, and almost no race has avoided one at some point. The world’s two holy books, the Quran and the Bible, documented how our predecessors went through ethnic crises, religious crises, or ethno-religious crises at various moments in recent history. This means that the ethno-religious conflict is not exclusive to Nigeria nor a new phenomenon (Omoregbe, 2002).

Ethnic and religious sensitivities have presented a threat to Nigeria’s progress, coexistence, peace, and unity as members of a single sovereign democratic state since its independence. Only a few states in Nigeria have not had an ethnic or religious crisis in the recent past. A state will enjoy development if it is free of crises. Ethnic groups differ from the main population of a community because of ethnic origin or cultural background.

Gould and Kilb (1956) and Nnoli (1978) describe ethnicity as a social formation characterized by communal features of its boundaries. Language, culture, or a combination of the two may be crucial communal characteristics. This implies that an ethnic group will have its own territory, distinct from other ethnicities, under a policy. In Nigeria, for example, the principal ethnic groups are the Yoruba in western Nigeria, the Hausa in northern Nigeria, the Igbo in eastern Nigeria, and the Ogoni in southern Nigeria.

The use of ethnicity as a scapegoat for all vices associated with the Nigerian body polity has pushed the subject to the forefront of the study of Nigerian political economics. No study is deemed scientific until it examines the significance or non-importance of ethnicity in its analysis and findings.

Thus, analysts interested in nationalism, decolonization, national integration, political parties, military intervention, corruption, economic development, structural adjustment, democratization, and violent conflict have all investigated the ‘ethnicity’ component. This was true even in the 1960s and 1970s, when major intellectual traditions thought ethnicity was a secondary explanatory variable, at best an epiphenomenon and at worst a cover for class privilege (Sklar, 1967).

The result of such ethnicity interest, which is tied to Nigerian society’s high level of ‘ethnic consciousness’ (Lewis et al; 2002), is a plethora of ethnicity literature, making a critique Herculean. “The study of ethnic relations in Nigeria has gone through a number of phases reflecting changes in the country’s political status as well as changes in styles and trends in the social science research agenda,” writes Jinadu (1994).

Joireman (2003) says that, from a historical standpoint, ethnicity did not enter common usage until the late twentieth century; it is a concept that is extensively contested in academic literature. Joireman regards ethnicity as the first manifestation of identity when it comes to nationalism.

Religion is defined as the belief in the existence of a god or gods, as well as the behaviors connected with their worship. It is also one of the faith systems based on the belief in the existence of a specific god or gods, such as the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic religions, as well as a number of other global religions.

Almost every human being believes in a Supreme Being (called by numerous local names) who controls over the universe, both visible and hidden. He, among other things, creates a moral standard for man to aspire towards and is capable of punishing man both now and in the future. Religion is described as man’s attempt to appease the Supreme Being, namely to secure a favorable place for himself in the hereafter. It arises from an innate proclivity and is extremely personal because one has the option to believe or disagree (Olayiwola, 2011).

Religion is also characterized as an institutional system of beliefs, values, and symbolic rituals that provide a collection of primary solutions to issues such as the ultimate meaning of death, barriers, pain, and so on. In this determination, religion is considered as a social institution. In my perspective, religion is the belief in the existence of a supernatural being known as God who created heaven, earth, and those who dwell on them (Samari, 2016).

Nigeria is a religiously pluralistic society where everyone is free to worship whatever religion they like, whether Islam, Christianity, or African traditional religion. Since time immemorial, man has had a natural desire to worship, which has resulted in the emergence of a mosaic of beliefs, attitudes, and actions. Religion has been seen throughout history as a worldwide institution incorporating a set of core concepts and practices.

Religion is meant to foster a healthy environment for a functional and flourishing community in all societies. Religion is commonly viewed by scholars as a living thing, and any living thing is deeply interested in what is going on around it. Furthermore, every religion advocated peace, with oneself, with others, and with God. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of calm in our culture these days (Okwueze, 2003).

The history of religion cannot be separated from the struggle that has followed it throughout history. In Nigerian society, all of Nnoli’s insights regarding crisis prevention are fairly prevalent. This leads to polarization and socioeconomic competitiveness, both of which have negative social repercussions.

Religion, on the other hand, is so fundamental to human society that it cannot be ignored. Without it, world history would be incomplete. Religion is as old as humanity and will most likely survive for as long as man does (Omoregbe, 2002). A general definition of religion is difficult, if not impossible, to establish. This could be attributed to the discipline’s breadth, as it pervades many aspects of life and allows for individual perspectives (Osibodu, 2000).

Religion is derived from three Latin words: ligare (to bind), relegere (to link), and religio (to have a relationship). As a result, religion might be defined as something that connects man to a transcendent being, a god whom man believes exists and worships; man and God (Omoregbe, 2002).

A state or situation of dispute in an interactional process is defined as conflict (crisis). A crisis arises when two or more principles, views, or points of view are essentially irreconcilable and have yet to be reconciled or agreed upon (Bagaji, 2012).

To understand the concept of socioeconomic development, it is important to define development. In general, development is described as the process through which anything changes from an unwanted to a tolerable condition. Development can also refer to an improvement in people’s lifestyles as a result of better education, money, skill development, and employment opportunities (Adeniyi, 1993).

It is an economic and social change process driven by cultural and environmental factors. As a result, socioeconomic development refers to the process of social and economic development in a society. It is quantified using indicators like as GDP, life expectancy, literacy, and employment levels (Okonjo-Iweala and Osafo-Kwaako, 2007).

Religious tolerance among members of many religions is and will continue to be vital in the country’s socioeconomic development. There can be no meaningful growth without peace, which is why the government at all levels should work together to keep the country’s crisis level to a bare minimum. The truth is that good governance and accountability are sacrosanct because they enhance the country’s socioeconomic progress.

Nigeria has a long history of ethnic and religious conflict. Ethnic and religious conflicts and differences are inextricably intertwined in contemporary Nigeria, according to (Oji and Anugwom, 2004).

1.2 THE PROBLEM’S STATEMENT

The prevalence of ethno-religious conflicts in Nigeria, particularly in the country’s north, has aroused widespread concern among academics. These crises usually generate hostile conduct among Muslims and Christians, instilling a great awareness of religious sentiment that harms their socioeconomic progress.

The goal of this study is to look into the influence of ethno-religious disputes on the economic and educational growth of Birnin Gwari LGA in order to give recommendations to those who are affected by the topic at hand and the world at large.

1.3 THE STUDY’S OBJECTIVE

The primary goal of this research is to investigate ethno-religious conflicts and their economic and educational consequences for Christian adolescents in Kaduna state. As a result, the following are the precise goals:

To investigate the consequences of ethno-religious conflicts on Christian youth education in Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna.
To look into the role of religious leaders in reducing the threat in Birnin Gwari LGA.
To look into the government’s policies for dealing with ethno-religious disputes in Birnin Gwari LGA.

1.4 QUESTIONS FOR RESEARCH

This research is guided by the following questions:

What are the repercussions of ethno-religious disputes on the education of Christian adolescents in Kaduna’s Birnin Gwari LGA?
What role do religious leaders have in mitigating the threat?
What are the government’s policies for dealing with ethno-religious conflicts?

1.5 THE STUDY’S IMPORTANCE

This research will add to the different literature, such as journals and textbooks, that have highlighted the hazards of ethno-religious conflicts and how to deal with them. It will assist policymakers in the country and around the world in understanding the core causes of ethno-religious conflicts in order to identify solutions for mitigating the harmful effects of the conflicts in the future. Making long-term measures to eradicate ethno-religious chauvinism and its impact on national stability and growth.

1.6 STUDY OBJECTIVES

This study will be limited to the rural areas of Kaduna, specifically Birnin Gwari LGA, and will sample Christian youngsters living in the area. People in rural areas are largely Muslims and Christians, and there has been a history of ethno-religious conflict. This study will only look at the consequences of ethno-religious conflicts on Christian youth in Kaduna’s Birnin Gwari LGA.

1.7 THE STUDY’S LIMITATIONS

The scope of this study was limited to the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna. This study’s findings are limited to people of Birnin Gwari, Kaduna state. More research with a bigger population size may be undertaken in the future. The researcher was constrained by time and money during the course of this study.

1.8 TERM DEFINITION

Ethno-Religious: Is a combination of the words ethnicity (ethnic) and religion; it simply means “of or pertaining to ethnicity and religion.” It will thus be easier to comprehend if the root words (Ethnicity and Religion) are defined.
Ethnicity is defined as “a social identity creation based on culturally specific practices and a distinct set of symbols and mythologies.” Adeyemi, Lanre Olu (2006).

According to Nnoli (1998), ethnicity is defined by a shared sense of being one in relation to other significant ethnic groups. He goes on to say that ethnicity is a “socio-political phenomena linked with interactions among members of a society comprised of diverse ethnic groups marked by cultural and linguistic similarities, values, and common consciousness.”

Religion: The term Religion is so complicated that deciding on a single definition is difficult. Religion is defined by scholars such as B. Taylor (2005) as “belief in spiritual creatures.” “Religion is the propitiation or conciliation of powers superior to man, which are thought to govern and regulate the cause of nature and human life,” says Frazer. Religion, according to Marx, was the “opium of the masses” (Karl Max, 1879)

Conflicts are defined as “a person’s perception or experience of an event or situation as an intolerable hardship that transcends the person’s present resources and coping methods.” (Gilliland and James, 2001)
Conflicts Between Religions: Conflict between religions is a multi-cause variable. Salawu (2010).

By ethno-religious conflicts, we mean a situation in which the relationship between members of one ethnic or religious group and members of another ethnic or religious group in a multi-ethnic and multi-religious society is marked by lack of cordiality, mutual suspicion, and fear, as well as a proclivity for violent confrontation (B. Salawu, 2010)

FACTORS AFFECTING MARRIAGE COMPATIBILITY IN MARRIED COUPLES

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Marriage is an important and fundamental human connection because it provides ten primary structures for building a family and raising children. According to the Bible, it began when man was formed and placed in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 4:1-3). Adam and Eve, the first humans on Earth, desired themselves so much that they ended up procreating and had a family.

While marriage is defined as a union of men and women, recent literature reveals that marital harmony is difficult to attain, particularly in contemporary times. (Bruker & Kimberly, 1993). This implies that a higher number of marriages are associated with uncertainty, insecurity, and a lack of trust between the man and the woman.

The danger of ambiguity related with the problem of marital conflict has thus produced significant obstacles for marriage counsellors. According to (Owuamanam and Osankinta, 2005), some marriages fail before their first anniversary. Marital harmony is a complex process that has been thought to be influenced by a variety of factors over time, including education, socioeconomic status, love, commitment, marital communication, conflict, gender, length of marriage, the presence of children, sexual relations, and the division of labor, among others.(Hendrick & Hendrick, 1992:194).

If marriage is healthy and stable, and the couples are happy and living in harmony, the society will be well-built, with the family as its foundation. One of the most important objectives of modern marriages is to achieve marital harmony and a high degree of marital happiness at home.

Marital harmony can thus be defined as an individual’s subjective experience of marriage in terms of when their needs are met and when their expectations and wishes are met. The way and manner in which spouses communicate at home, the presence of children, the influence of in-laws, the marriage bond, the fulfilment of sexual urges, and occupational differences are all factors that contribute to marital harmony.

Others include financial miscommunication, physical abuse, a lack of affection, and a lack of moral commitment. (Target, 1980). The phenomenon has also caused psychological and social instabilities among Babcock University staff, resulting in a lack of concentration in their work, absolute break-up, an increase in children’s anti-social behavior, an increase in adultery among married women and men, and other irresponsible behaviour by both married men and women.

According to Neff and Karney (2002), when couples have children, there is a decline in harmony over home distribution and who should do which or what. As a marriage progresses, marital conflict is to be expected, as disillusionment causes the initial feelings of hope and contentment to fade.

For many, marital harmony has become a tool for measuring the success and stability of a marriage, and, by extension, personal fulfilment and well-being.

Because the ideal of marital harmony is so compelling, many spouses fool themselves about how well their marriage satisfies their own criterion for fulfilment. (Fowers, 1998:521). optimistic illusions about marriage occur when couples substantially underestimate their odds of divorce and make unrealistically optimistic claims about their partners. These delusions appear to assist spouses in believing that their marriage is approaching the goals to which they strive. (Fowers, 1998:521).

THEORY OF THE GENERAL PROBLEM

Family stability and harmony are critical to the growth and development of any society and nation. The family faces a variety of concerns, including psychological distress, a lack of financial resources to care for the children, communication problems between parents and children, and emotional problems and dissatisfaction, which result in depression, health problems, and an unfulfilled married life, among other issues.

Married couples face comparable uncomfortable situations, such as social assault from in-laws, the absence of children in marriage and homes, which leads to divorce, a lack of adequate communication between couples, and a breakdown in a solid marital relationship. Poor marriage relationships are on the rise in Nigeria, particularly among workers. All of these pose a severe danger to the country’s social stability.

In Babcock University, where the majority of the staff are married men and women, and the increasing conflict and crisis of related family issues has spread to the offices and working environment, it has become critical to examine these issues and investigate possible solutions to the problem of marital disharmony. As a result, the primary problem addressed in this study is to identify the factors impacting marital harmony among married couples in the Babcock University community.

STUDY GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The study’s primary goal is to investigate the factors that influence marital harmony among married couples in the Babcock university community. Other specific study objectives include:

To ascertain the significance of marital harmony among married couples in Nigeria.
To investigate the effect of marital satisfaction on marital harmony among Nigerian married couples.
To investigate the disadvantages of marital conflict in Nigerian families.
To make recommendations for strategies to improve marital harmony among married couples in Nigeria.
QUESTIONS FOR RESEARCH

What variables influence marital harmony among Nigerian married couples?
What is the significance of marital harmony among Nigerian married couples?
What effect does marital satisfaction have on marital harmony among Nigerian married couples?
What are the drawbacks of marital dispute in Nigerian families?
How can married couples in Nigeria improve their marital harmony?
THEORY OF RESEARCH

H0: Marital pleasure has no effect on marital harmony in married couples.

H1: Marital happiness enhances marital harmony in married couples.

IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY

The study would be extremely useful to married couples in Nigeria, marriage therapists/counselors, and other stakeholders since it will show the elements that influence marital harmony among married couples in Nigeria. The study would also be useful to students, researchers, and academics who are interested in conducting additional research on the issue.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The research is limited to the factors that influence marital harmony among married couples in the Babcock University community in Ogun State.

LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

Financial constraint- Inadequate funding tends to hamper the researcher’s efficiency in locating relevant materials, literature, or information, as well as in the data gathering procedure. (internet, questionnaire and interview).

Time constraint- The researcher will conduct this investigation alongside other academic activities. As a result, the amount of time spent on research will be reduced.
