The research would be pleased to survey the supermarket, but owing to time constraints, money constraints, academic loads, and distance from the project, I am limited.

TIME FACTORS: Semesters are sometimes so short that they cause software crashes, compromising project time allocation.

SOCIAL FACTORS. This also caused some issues with project writing due to the abundance of social activities surrounding the semester. Last but not least, financial constraints impede the project’s success.

Second, the location must be cost-effective in terms of sales volume. That the place would not incur such high costs. The position should be motorable, visible, and not in an obscure area that requires more effort to identify.

1.1 Background of the Study

The term “total quality determination” arose in the United States in the mid to late 1950s (Hutchims, 1992). The term was first used in an article by Dr. A. V. Flegenbawn and then again in his “total quality determination Engineering and Management” (1961). The concept of total quality determination, as understood by American gurns, originated in mass production and Taylorism.

Taylor style management was at its peak in the United States at the time, and even behavioural scientists did not criticise it. Quality determination as a science can be traced back to the early days of mass production, particularly at Ford Motor Company.

Today’s total quality differs significantly from what its American pioneers envisioned. Quality systems have evolved considerably in recent years. Over the last two decades, quality determination has replaced or augmented simple inspection efforts.

Quality assurance has evolved and improved over time, and the most forward-thinking businesses are currently moving towards Quality determination. This is the outcome of:

a. Organisations recognise that adhering to the standards of a specific quality system is not always a guarantee against creating and delivering non-conforming products to customers.

A quality assurance system does not inherently foster a continuous improvement approach to quality. It may simply signify that a purchasing organisation has procedures in place.

b. Major customers have rigorous quality criteria.

c. Loss of market share to competitors.

d. Increased communication with employees from Japanese companies.

e. Case studies that focus on how companies have implemented PQD and the benefits of doing so.

Total quality is a relatively new idea among managers, hence its application is limited. The singular idea of quality, control, or management is more common in modern management, although its definition varies.

Literature dealing with the notion of complete quality continues to be created as a result of the widespread interest in PQD and business process improvement.

As a result, there is a vast body of literature on the subject and its varied aspects. Continuous cost reduction, productivity, and quality improvement have proven critical for purchasing organisations to remain in business.

It is practically impossible to ignore how quality has evolved into the most essential competitive weapon; many businesses have realised that quality determination is the way to manage for the future.

However, quality determination has a broader applicability than only ensuring the quality of products or services. It is a method of managing business processes that ensures total customer satisfaction at all stages. (lerit, 1994) because purchasing organisations must shift from gratifying to deligiting their customers.

Organisations delight customers by continuously meeting their needs and establishing a reputation for excellence (Oakland, 1993). To achieve this goal, all members of the purchasing organisation must collaborate on a company-wide basis to increase quality.

To achieve this level of perfection, everyone at every interaction must work together. Changing customers’ lifelong behaviours and purchasing organisations’ preconceptions is difficult.

Experience has shown that just throwing money and training at a problem will not result in meaningful changes in behaviours or attitudes; something more is necessary. Dale and Plunkett (1990).

It will help the organisation set its goals and guide it towards achieving those goals. Organising is the arrangement and structuring of people, work to be done, and facilities to do the task so that goals may be met and the many components of the organisation are brought together to achieve the organisational goals.

Controlling guarantees that there is no deviation from the established goals and objectives. These are collectively referred to as management functions. However, these management duties must be performed by individuals who will utilise them to manipulate subordinates in order to fulfil the organization’s goals.

Such individuals are referred to as leader(s). When two or more persons guide the efforts of others to achieve some desired goals, one of the actors or participants usually has a greater influence on group behaviour than the other and is looked to for guidance and instruction.

Such a person is considered as the group’s leader. With this, one can see that the act of leading, or leadership, may be defined as what makes up the organisation itself since when leadership fails, people are misled, which has a detrimental impact on the organization’s aims and objectives.

Leadership, being the most visible part of management, functions within and links the group together. Its role in human society is highly demanding, it requires leaders not only to be dynamic but efficient and resourceful. Leading is the practice of persuading and encouraging others to work effectively.

A leader motivates people to work towards goals and objectives in order to gain the willing and enthusiastic obedience of their subordinates. He must be able to encourage members to be dedicated and make substantial contributions to the organization’s progress.

A leader can motivate his followers by being considerate and demonstrating good leadership behaviour. A leader must not only be honest, but also be perceived as plainly honest.

A dishonest leader has no moral justification for promoting honesty among his followers. A leader serves as the centre of an organization’s operations.

Power, people, and influence are all implicit elements in understanding leadership. A leader has the authority to lead others and has influence (good or bad) over those who follow him.

However, there are certain leadership concepts that influence employee performance. These concepts include leadership styles to be used in a given situation, qualities to be possessed by the leader, the ability of the leader to lead effectively, and the ability of the leader to instill discipline and a sense of responsibility in followers by implementing or changing their behaviour and guiding them to obey the rules and maintain acceptable performance.

Leadership is crucial in an organisation because it influences the behaviour of individuals within it. How well the leader performs this has an impact on the job performance of others in the organisation. Some of the problems of this study is this seeking solutions to include the following.

In purchasing, the decision to outsource and/or insource is known as a sourcing policy decision, and it is one of the most critical decision points for any organisation because it has a wide-ranging and interconnected impact on the organization’s functioning.

Managers of firms, particularly manufacturing organisations, face a number of critical and decisive questions that must be accurately answered if the organisation is to succeed in the face of competition.

The Purchasing Manager must first determine which product or service best meets the organization’s needs, and whether the organisation should generate (make or insource) what it consumes or purchase from outside sources.

The questions that arise from this are whether the organisation will buy from a single supplier (single source) or from several suppliers (multiple source); even if that is answered, the questions will remain:

should we buy directly from manufacturers or use intermediaries, or should the organisation both insource and outsource at the same time?

However, before an organisation can make a decision on whether to manufacture what it consumes in-house or to buy from outside suppliers (outsourced), several factors such as financial consideration, cost consideration, core competence consideration, and a way must be critically analysed to determine how they will affect the organization’s productivity.

Outsourcing, thus, is a purchasing policy in which outside suppliers are hired to satisfy an organization’s material requirements. In contrast, insourcing refers to a situation in which an organisation produces and consumes what it requires.

As previously said, several elements must be discussed before an organisation can make any sourcing policy decisions. These will serve as the study’s focal points.

1.2 Statement of The Problem

Organisations are increasingly turning to outsourcing in order to increase their competitive advantage. The idea is that outsourcing is a method of attaining strategic goals, lowering costs, increasing customer satisfaction, and providing other efficiencies and effectiveness (total productivity).

However, PZ has long used outsourcing to meet its material needs, despite the purported benefits of outsourcing. The organisation has seen a significant drop in productivity, the cost of doing business has become virtually exorbitant, quality has been declining, and market shares and sales have also decreased.

Another issue that raises concerns is the organization’s adoption of a single sourcing policy, which occasionally results in delays in the procurement of critical materials for manufacturing.

The question that arises from these concerns for this study is whether the organisation should continue with the outsourcing policy while investigating other aspects or explore an insourcing policy. Should the organisation insource and outsource simultaneously?

1.3 Objectives of the Study

The research aims to determine the impact of insourcing or outsourcing decisions on the productivity of Northern Cable Processing and Manufacturing Company (PZ) Kaduna. The main objective is constructed upon a variety of specialised objectives, which include:

i) Determine the procedure by which the organisation outsources contracts.

ii) Determine criteria for insourcing or outsourcing.

iii) To compare the benefits of insourcing with outsourcing.

iv) Determine the costs associated with an insourcing or outsourcing decision.

v) To assess the impact of insourcing and outsourcing on productivity.

This study project focusses on the need to evaluate the bread distribution tactics employed in Owerri Urban. Chapter one begins with a basic explanation of the study, investigates the underlying problems that are relevant to the research study, and explicitly explains the project’s aim. It determines the project’s hypothesis. It establishes the hypothesis of the project study, enumerates the relevance of the investigation, and defines the scope and constraints of the research. The second chapter discusses the historical background of the trips foods and Vego bread industries in Owerri Urban, which is used as a case study, as well as the opinions and views of experts in management, marketing, and distribution, which are reviewed to allow the research results to be compared to these experts’ dreadfully held beliefs. Chapter three discusses research methodology, which covers the methodologies and tools utilised to collect data for the study. The questionnaire is the tool used to obtain the primary data needed. The complete crew of the trips foods and vego bread businesses in Owerri Urban comprised the population of the study, from which a sample was drawn. The fourth chapter covers data displays and analysis in accordance with research questions. Chi-square (X2) is used to test the study hypothesis. One of the conclusions is that the failure to use strategic distribution while promoting their product concept resulted in low profitability. The researcher conducted in-depth research on staff safety in retail operations. In chapter one, the researcher provided a brief historical overview of the company under investigation. Whereby, there is a comprehensive insight into Camela Vegetable Oil Limited’s function and commitment to achieving staff safety in retail operations. The researcher described the background study of the topic and the connected problem. In Chapter 2, the researcher studied several relevant literatures, such as journals, textbooks, periodicals, and encyclopaedias, that had something to do with the research issue. In Chapter 3, vivid methods for data collection were described. The researcher collected data for this study through a questionnaire, personal interviews, and observation. In Chapter Four, the researcher presents and critically analyses the facts acquired in order to provide a basis for providing potential solutions and recommendations. Camela Vegetable Oil Limited is a manufacturing/production firm that operates in a joint venture with a parent company in the United Kingdom, London. To improve its operational strategy, the corporation divided its operations in this country into two groups, one of which is located in Abia State and is still under construction.
