Technopreneurship and small business development is very important to the economic development of any nation. However the telecommunication industry in Nigeria has not reached its full potential; this could be as a result of low level of technopreneurship and small business development in the Nigeria telecommunication industry. The inception of technopreneurship and small business development is usually capital intensive and most of the telecommunication industry in Nigeria lack the technical know-how to introduce advance technologies to business. Lastly there have been series of studies on technopreneurship but not even a single study has tried to find the technopreneurship, small business development and telecommunication nexus. It is to this regard that the study is based on the importance of technopreneurship and small business development in telecommunication industry in Nigeria.

The main aim of the research work is to determine the importance of technopreneurship and small business development in telecommunication industry in Nigeria. The specific objectives of the study are:

The study will also serve as a repository of information to other researchers that desire to carry out similar research on the above topic. 1.8 LIMITATION OF THE

Financial constraint- Insufficient fund tends to impede the efficiency of the researcher in sourcing for the relevant materials, literature or information and in the process of data collection (internet, questionnaire and interview).

Time constraint- The researcher will simultaneously engage in this study with other academic work. This consequently will cut down on the time devoted for the research work.

1.9 DEFINITION OF TERMS

TECHNOPRENEURSH: Technopreneur is a new age entrepreneur who makes use of technology to come out with something new to make some innovation. Once the person succeeds in it, s/he exploits his/her achievement in the market to make money. A technopreneur operates business differently from any other businessman.

SMALL S: Small businesses are privately owned corporations, partnerships, or sole proprietorships that have fewer employees and/or less annual revenue than a regular-sized business or corporation

: Telecommunication is the exchange of signs, signals, messages, words, writings, images and sounds or information of any nature by wire, radio, optical or other electromagnetic systems. Telecommunication occurs when the exchange of information between communication participants includes the use of technology
