DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

CHAPITRE ONE

1.0 INTRODUCTION

An inventory control system keeps a record of orders to be filled and then prompts workers to pick the necessary items while also providing packaging and shipping information.

Inventory control can be utilised to automate the sales order fulfilment process as well as manage physical material in and out. Automation is the use of technology to replace human employees.

Robust functionality for managing logistics facilities is required for successful sales and inventory management processes.

Warehouse management functions for inventory control include internal warehouse movements and storage, as well as support for documenting and tracking items based on amount and value.

This programme handles all supply orders, lowering warehousing and shipping costs while enhancing customer service. It dramatically improves inventory rotations and optimises goods flow.

Furthermore, it enhances cash flow, visibility, and decision making. It delivers efficient work execution through the use of this quick and dependable computerised technology.

SunnyBenz Auto Nig. Ltd is a vehicle parts dealing firm that was founded in 2004 and is located at block 11 shop R120, Gudu market next diamond bank, Abuja, Nigeria.

Nigeria, FCT-Abuja 112122. Its goal is to provide the Nigerian populace with satisfactory, comfortable, and safe automotive components by stocking a variety of automobile parts.

It is unparalleled, and as a result, demand is strong. The corporation responds to the rising demand by stabilising supply in order to establish a balance.

To be sure, the corporation has a problem keeping proper records of products transfers, and because it is done manually, the concerns of insecurity, high operating costs, and supply delays develop. To handle stock and inventory, SunnyBenz Auto Nig. Ltd now uses humans, pens, and paper for data processing.

The design and construction of an automated inventory control system for Sunny Benz Auto Nig. ltd will, without a doubt, provide significant respite from the challenges connected with the manual system.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
SunnyBenz Auto Nig.S ltd primarily operates manually and has a lot of issues that need to be addressed.

The recording of sales and monies received is done manually on a sloppy book. As a result, the books are subjected to physical damage, information may be lost, and dust particles gather.

The control system is time-consuming, inaccurate, and inefficient, and the environment is unfriendly to users.

Inaccuracies are frequently caused by human error.

The manual system is time-consuming and can be decreased or eliminated by using the proposed system.

The purpose of the research
The goal of this research is to create and deploy an automated inventory system for Sunnybenz Auto Nig. Ltd.

AIM OF THE STUDY

The primary goal of this research is to design and implement an autoshop inventory management system. Others are as follows:

Compute the bill.

Give the customer the bill.

Keep track of how many things are sold.

Store products as well as their prices and other information.

Set the tax and commission rates for the products.

Can view the product report within a set time frame.

Modify the system’s Graphical User Interface.

It gives a better level of security because the system is password protected to prevent unauthorised access.

But they can’t:

Employee pay should be calculated.
Calculate the product’s expanses.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
By installing an automated inventory control system, the Nigerian Breweries PLC hopes to boost operational efficiency, reduce maintenance and operating costs, monitor the supply of commodities and their distribution, and increase profit.

SCOPE OF STUDY
This study’s scope includes:

Product Inventory Management by Users
Purchases, Supplier Management, and Other Report Generation
POS (Point of Sale)
Project’s Restrictions
The following factors hampered this project:

(a) Financial Constraints

Given the nation’s economic situation, it was difficult to make both ends meet due to the extravagant nature of items nowadays in travelling for data collection for the project.

(b) Time Constraints

Looking at the period between the last semester’s resumption and vacation for the project to be completed, the time provided appeared to be insufficient for the collection of necessary information for better work to be done.

(c) Inadequate Material Availability

During this project, it was discovered that the project’s required materials were not documented. Those that were documented lacked accessible storage facilities.

Basic words and concepts are defined.
Automation is the use of technology or computers to control and process data in order to reduce the need for human intervention.

A database is a vast collection of connected data on a computer that a user can access and alter.

Password: A secret code that must be entered into a computer in order to gain access to its programmes. It is made up of numbers, letters, special characters, or a mix of the three.

Inventory Control System: A list of orders to be filled that prompts employees to select the appropriate items and gives packaging and shipping information.

Computerization is the process of transforming a manually operated system into a regulated, organised, and automated one.

A careful examination of a subject in order to discover facts, build a theory, or develop a plan of action based on the facts discovered.

A system is a collection of computer components that work together.

Technology is the study of methods for mobilising resources such as information to achieve goals that benefit man and his environment.

A computer programme or set of instructions that directs a computer to perform processing functions is referred to as software.

Information System: A set of methods, people, instructions, and equipment used to generate useful information.

Processing is the act of dealing with something in accordance with a predetermined protocol.
