DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ELECTRONIC SCORING AND SCREENING SYSTEM A Case Study of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree

ABSTRACT

The role of educational institutions in society cannot be overstated. The well-being of the community is enhanced by their proper operation.

An important feature of these institutions is the use of screening and scoring procedures. Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, implemented a computerized screening and scoring system for the admissions department in order to increase the efficiency and efficacy of the process. Visual Basic was used to construct the system, which runs on a mainframe’s CICS or MVS system environment.

VOLUME I

Section one: a brief introduction

Educational institutions are critical to a society’s growth and development. Society’s backbone, the educated young people, are something they contribute for the community. As a result, the health and well-being of society depends on the efficient operation of these institutions.

A system view of educational institutions shows that students, instructors, and backup facilities all work together. All of these characteristics must be assessed on a regular basis if institutions are to operate effectively and for the benefit of society as a whole.

Some faculty members at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, have conducted research on the evaluation of these various elements. Students, teachers, academic programs, and the advising system have all been evaluated as part of this process. Here we go again with the same goal. It’s a significant part of the work of any Polytechnic.
The admissions office.

Initial research focuses on Osun Polytechnic’s screening and scoring system, which is still largely manual, in Iree, Osun State. The proposal then proposes a computerized screening and scoring system, realizing the relevance of computers in every industry, including education. It focuses on the most important aspects of the system and the advantages it provides over manual effort.

STATING THE PROBLEM, Section 1.2

The goal of this initiative is to score and screen new students at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, using computers. Eventually, it will compile a report on each applicant’s admission status and coordinate the basic requirements for admission, scoring and screening each candidate, department specification, and computing candidate information.

What are the goals and objectives of this study?

Building a system that can be used in an efficient and reliable manner is the goal of this project on electronic scoring and screening system.
The following are the project’s goals:

To save time by making it simple to find and index information about every student.

There are many tasks that can be completed by a computer in an hour that would take five people days to complete manually.

Because of the computerization of the admissions process, the number of admissions employees has been reduced. The number of omissions and inaccuracies in the calculation of scores is minimized because a computer will be doing the work. Candidates’ registration records are preserved in electronic form for convenience’s sake. Rather than using bulky files and paper that take up a lot of room, do it electronically.

1.4 Study Purpose

It helps with the admissions and registration of new students, as well as the management of their personal and academic information. This system’s database typically contains all of a student’s pertinent personal, academic, and extracurricular data. Processing (updating and inserting) is the primary focus of this application. Tables of student data are generated. Make a report on a student’s academic progress. Generate an individual report for each student. Compute a candidate’s admission status It saves the university’s list of honor roll students.

1.5 AN OVERVIEW OF THE RESEARCH

Using the So ware application, a screening and scoring institution for students applying to a governing university, polytechnic, or college of education will be able to use it.

Students are accepted into the program based on their academic record and their preference for a particular field of study. Updating, and other tasks Tables containing the System Operator’s modifications to the system are kept for auditing and integrity checks.

Since its inception, the computer has proven to be extremely accurate and capable of carrying out complex calculations with little or no mistake. Computerized scoring and screening systems have the following advantages: It is possible to retrieve data quickly and easily. Large amounts of data can be easily stored in this device. There is a small number of people needed. Unauthorized users can’t get in as easily because of it.
