Abstract
Current asset management and financial performance are concepts that have been implemented in many academic domains, although they are rarely addressed in developing countries. The structure and amount of current assets, as well as their impact on the firm’s financial performance, cannot be overstated.
There is a void in the literature, which motivated the author to develop a multiple correlation and regression model that leverages current assets management to forecast changes in the financial performance of Nigerian deposit money institutions. Cash and bank balances, financial assets kept for trade, derivative assets, loans and advances to banks, and loans and advances to clients are among the various factors.
To calculate the influence of CAM on financial performance, an OLS model was developed. A five-year data study was performed to validate the model. The study’s sample includes data from 15 deposit money banks operating in the financial services industry that are listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange from 2010 to 2014. (NSE). The robust estimator was employed in empirical analyses.
The findings of the analysis reveal a favorable relationship between cash and bank balances, financial assets held for trade, customer loans and advances, and Return on Asset. Another study finding reveals that derivative assets, loans, and advances to banks have a negative influence on return on asset.
