THE ROLE OF THE ACCOUNTANT IN THE PRIVATIZATION AND COMMERCIALIZATION OF PARASTATALS IN NIGERIA
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research is to determine the various roles played by accountants in the privatization and commercialization of public enterprises in the Nigerian economy.
It also focused on the accountant’s information and its contribution to the success of the privatization and commercialization exercise, demonstrating that the accountant is important among other groups of professionals required for the exercise’s implementation, and they formed the pillar on which any successful establishment rests.
Accountants in Nigeria face many challenges in providing their services today, but based on my research, I believe that accountants should be given a free hand in the implementation of the exercise in order to increase the profitability of such parastatals.
