Chapter one

GENERAL INTRODUCTIONS

1.1 Background of the Study

According to Burkus and Green (2008), motivation comes from the term “motivate,” which means to drive, push, or influence someone to do something (Kalmillah et al. 2001). According to Bartol and Martin (2002), motivation is a force that increases conduct, provides a path to behaviour, and drives the desire to continue (Farhad et al, 2011).

This explanation recognises that in order to achieve certain goals, persons must be sufficiently energetic and clear about their destination. Every organisation and business strives for success and continuous improvement.

Employee retention issues exist in today’s highly competitive environment, regardless of size, technology, or market focus. To overcome these constraints, employees need develop and maintain strong and good relationships with their organisations.

Organisations develop several techniques to increase high levels of productivity through motivation in order to achieve effective productivity (Okafor and Tentrige 2010).

Few organisations believe that an organization’s human personnel and employees are its most valuable assets, which can lead to success or, if not properly focused, decline.

Unless and until an organization’s employees are satisfied with it, motivated to complete tasks, and encouraged to achieve goals, no organisation can progress or succeed.

Employee motivation is one of the policies that managers use to improve effective job management among employees in an organisation (Shadere et al 2009). A motivated employee is attentive to specific aims and objectives.

He/she must succeed, therefore he/she focuses his energies on that decision. Rutherford (1990) said that motivation formulates an organisation more effective since provoked people are continually looking for enhanced practice to complete a work, therefore it is necessary for organisations to convince their employees’ motivation (Kalimullah et al, 2010).

Getting employees to produce their best work, especially under difficult circumstances, is one of the most stable and greasy problems for employees, and it can be accomplished by motivating them.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

Motivation is a method for improving employee performance in both public and commercial organisations. And organisations that wish to prosper must implement efficient and effective motivational strategies in order to attain extraordinary productivity.

However, some have complained about the nature of incentive in an organisation. Is there a problem? What could be the cause of this? What are the organization’s motivating strategies, and how relevant are they to employee performance?

What variables influence incentive to complain over time? What effect do ecological elements have on employee motivation in an organisation? The work will strive to answer these and many more questions.

1.3 Objectives of the Study

The primary goal is to analyse the impact of motivation on production in an organisation. The specific aims are:

Identify the numerous tactics used to motivate employees in an organisation for enhanced productivity.

To determine the impact of these measures on increased production.

To investigate the challenges associated with implementing motivating tactics in an organisation to boost productivity.

To provide suggestions on how to increase enthusiasm and productivity in an organisation.

1.4 RESEARCH QUESTION.

Based on the aforementioned objectives, the following research questions are posed to lead the study.

What are the strategies utilised in the organisation to motivate employees?

Do these techniques have an influence on staff productivity?

What are the challenges in using motivational tactics in an organisation?

Is there any advice on how to increase motivation for higher levels of productivity in an organisation?

1.5 Research Hypothesis

The following hypotheses are developed in response to the study questions.

Ho: There is no substantial association between organisational tactics for motivating employees and their impact on productivity.

Hi: There is a considerable association between organisational initiatives for employee motivation and their impact on productivity.

Ho: There is no substantial association between strategies impacting worker productivity in an organisation.

Hi: There is a considerable association between strategy influence and worker productivity in an organisation.

III. Ho: There is no substantial association between problems encountered while implementing motivational tactics and enhanced production.

Hi: There is a considerable association between challenges encountered while implementing motivational tactics in an organisation.

Ho: There is no substantial association between Suggestions on how to enhance motivation for higher levels of productivity in an organisation.
Hi: There is a considerable association between ideas for increasing motivation to achieve high levels of productivity in an organisation.

1.6 Significance of the Study

It is investigated that at the conclusion of this research, the findings may be of enormous benefit to the following:

The Private Organisation: This investigation could assist the present management team to identify specific efficiency buried in prior years’ performance.

The Sun Centre: Study allows the organisation to uncover elements that can lead to the Sun Centre’s success or failure, as well as any other organisation that is dependent on employee motivation.

Other Researchers in Similar Discipline: It may be of assistance to other researchers within and outside the institution of private organisation in the Sum centre, even at this level of higher national diploma; another researcher may use the study as a source of reference when conducting research on a similar problem of related filled.

1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study

The research is limited and proven within the research to employee motivation and its impact on increasing productivity in an organisation.

However, the study has clear shortcomings. One such limitation is a lack of time and appropriate funding to complete the study. Another factor is that the researcher did this investigation concurrently with other academic endeavours.

1.8 Definition of Terms

Motivation is a crucial component of a good staff. Motivation is derived from the term motivation and is defined as a desire that operates on a person’s will, causing that person to act.

This conceptual description attempts to condition us to believe that motivation is an internal mechanism that causes people to act in a specific way for one purpose on the mother’s behalf that must be prioritised by him or her. Sabatine (2013).
