MODEL VIEW CONTROLLER BASED PLATFORM FOR THE MODELING AND SIMULATION OF THE HOIST SCHEDULING PROBLEM

Chapter one

1.1 Problem Definition and Motivation
The goal of this effort is to create a simulator that will

graphical user interface for evaluating hoist scheduling techniques.

The model-view-controller (MVC) design paradigm will be used. The simulator simulates and evaluates several hoist scheduling techniques. It reports violations of constraints and compares algorithms to determine optimal scheduling. The simulator will be built utilising Java.

Hoist scheduling problems (HSP) are common in manufacturing lines across sectors. This is an NP-complete issue. Researchers have developed many heuristic approaches to address this problem.

The issue is with the scheduling algorithm for an automated hoist system. To analyse and compare various algorithms, a visual tool is necessary.

1.2 THESIS.
I propose a visual simulator for evaluating various hoist scheduling strategies. I propose using moves from the hoist scheduling method as input for this simulator to simplify and reduce the cost of evaluating the process. The motions can take the form of text files.
2
We are using an MVC architectural design pattern for our simulator.
