ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to determine whether the display of artwork in the library promotes spirituality, liberal arts, and contributes to humanity.

The survey method was used in the study. The survey included staff from the University of Ibadan library as well as some final-year art students. According to the responses received, artwork displayed in the library promotes spirituality;

it contributes to liberal art by encouraging creativity and critical thinking. The findings also show that, despite its contributions, the arts have not received adequate recognition because they are perceived to contribute less to humanity when, in fact, they do more.
