A prominent goal of the Internet Research Project (IRP) group at Kanda University of International Studies (KUIS) is peer guidance regarding use of Moodle. IRP manages Moodle course pages, is responsible for the promotion of Moodle, and coordinates output of Moodle educational material for educators who choose to utilize this resource. Moodle is made available, with the support of IRP, to all staff within the English Language Institute (ELI) as well as other KUIS departments and is recommended as both an effective course management system and language learning medium for use within an educator’s curriculum. While Moodle is employed by many teachers and learning advisors in a wide range of courses and projects, it was unclear how ELI educators are making use of Moodle as a beneficial educational tool, what individual educators’ goals are when using Moodle, and why staff selects and implements specific Moodle associated tools.
