Background of the study.
Nestle Nig plc is managed by men who have demonstrated integrity in the field of management. They recognise the importance of communication in any business setting, and in order to spread this role, workers from various positions in the company have been sent on courses both in service and long-term overseas training in order to achieve improved performance.

It is disheartening to discover that, despite all of these efforts, the organization’s communication system has continued to deteriorate. According to EB flipo et ab, communication acts as a lubricant, allowing the management process to run more smoothly.

In contrast to what is seen now in corporate organisations, which are characterised by managerial directives and authoritarian management conduct.

An adequate communication system guarantees flexibility and allows management and subordinates to not only recognise problems but also collaborate in developing solutions to them. Individual differences could be the root cause of the company’s communication problems.

This is a problem that a company inherits because it is common in society. Individuals are born with different potentialities, and they must have had different experiences during their childhood and as adults, with employers and supervisors exerting a variety of influence. The problem arises from the company’s psychological climate, which tends to obstruct communication.

One organisation may be liberal in the sense that employees are free to express themselves while also encouraging participation in vital activities.

Another organisation may be authoritarian in the sense that individuals are expected to express their opinions but are otherwise discouraged from partaking in participative activities, with the exception of a rare instance such as Nestle Nig Plc.

Mechanical inefficiency could possibly be the source of the problem at the organisation. This advanced in the same way that they originated from a lack of proper communication capabilities such as telex, telephones, telegrams, fax machines, and so on.

These factors on tools used for getting or sending urgent business information. When any of these equipment is not functioning well, correct information flow is skewed, which is in the interest of the organisation.

This study intends to survey the various ways in which the management of the aforementioned company communicates with its environment

. It is not an exaggeration to say that the communication function is the means by which organised activity is unified communication may be cooked up as the means by which behaviours are modified, change is effected, information is made productive, and organisational goals are met.

If we discuss business, the movement of knowledge from one person to another is vitally critical. Acting as a binder, communication delivers information that helps both the smallest subunit and the larger complex achieve organisational goals.

Communication is essential for the internal functions of any organisation because it integrates the management function. Special communication is required to establish and disseminate goods in order to develop and arouse members of the organisation to lead, direct, motivate, and create an environment in which people want to contribute.

Communication also connects the firm to its external environment; it is through information exchange that division managers are aware of how their goods perform. Also, through communication, an organisation enters into an open system contact with its environment.

Statement of the Problem

Inadequacy and distortion of information at Nestle Nig Plc have resulted in a number of negative repercussions, including strike action, work to rule, sit done, or go slow, demonstrating an ineffective communication system.

Inadequate communication in the organisation has resulted in significant financial loss since vital information needing quick critical decisions is frequently delayed, resulting in a significant loss before the information is obtained.

Delays in communication procedures have jeopardised management effectiveness. Unfortunately, when this occurs, rumours grow, and in many cases, inadequate communication leads to general misunderstanding and maybe low staff morale, as was the case with the aforementioned organisation.

There is misunderstanding between management and various departments in the company, indicating an ineffective and uncoordinated communication system.

Workers frequently feel that their rights, such as lawful participation in the communication process and decision-making process, are being ignored, resulting in incorrect speculations, confusion, a lack of confidence, unhealthy rumours, and even conflict between management and workers.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

This study will look into the importance of communication systems as effective instruments in managing Nestle Nigeria plc’s objectives.

To emphasise the significance of communication in the administration of any organisation.
To show the company’s problem with inadequate information distortion.
3.To map out or develop the solution to the challenges of the company’s lack of communication gadgets.

4 To highlight the issue of having unqualified personnel at crucial places in several departments of the printing company.

5 To highlight misunderstandings between management and other departments as a result of an ineffective and uncoordinated communication system at the printing firm limited.

Research Hypotheses

To ensure the study’s success, the researcher developed the following research hypotheses:

H0: communication is not important in the management of any organisation.

H1: Communication is important in the management of any organisation.

H02: There is no answer to the company’s shortage of communication gadgets.

H2: There is a solution to the issue of a lack of communication devices in the workplace.

Significance of the Study

This research will be extremely beneficial to the management of Nestle Nig plc and the business sector in general. It will also be beneficial to the management of government-owned organisations or corporations because excellent communication aids in the delivery of government services to the public while being profit-oriented.

The source and reason for communication problems in business organisations, as well as understanding of the variables responsible for taking the necessary actions and implementing a good communication mechanism in their company organisation.

This research will also serve as a reference for policy in the reorganisation of communication systems in their various organisations. This study will also benefit the lecturers who teach students in business studies because it will expose them to new areas of communications.

The study will also aid the researcher’s colleagues by broadening their expertise and comprehension of communication. The study will in no small way expand our knowledge of communication as it affects the business world.

 

Scope and Limitations of the Study

The study’s focus includes efficient communication as a strategy for good management, with a case study of Nestle Nigeria Plc. The researcher faces various constraints that limit the scope of the investigation;

a) AVAILABILITY OF RESEARCH MATERIAL: The researcher has insufficient research material, which limits the investigation.

b) TIME: The study’s time frame does not allow for broader coverage because the researcher must balance other academic activities and examinations with the study.

FINANCE: One of the issues that contributed to the sample size used was a lack of funds to support the sample size.

1.7 Definition of Terms

Communication is the process by which an organisation or individual conveys information to two or more people.

Management is the process of achieving organisational goals by collaborating with and through other organisational resources.

Feedback mechanism: This is the process of obtaining information promptly once it has been released.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION: Involves the communicator translating ideas or directions, commands or guides, into oral or written words or actions in such a way that the ideas are transferred from the communicator’s mind to the receiver’s mind, with the goal of the receiver reacting in the manner intended by the communicator [Akinyemi, 1981].

Effective communication is the transmission of a message followed by feedback from the recipient to the sender indicating comprehension of the message [Bernard, 1938].
