Critical, imaginative, and caring thought as a remedy for unemployment in Nigeria

CHAPTER ONE

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 THE BACKGROUND

There is no doubt that the style of education left to us by our Colonial Masters in Nigeria is devoid of logic. From the first Education Ordinance issued by the privy in England to our much-loved national education policy of 1981 (reversed 1998), the entire notion and goals have been a process of remediation rather than redesign – a disguise, a cosmetic extrapolation.

The British arrived and criticised every area of our lives, including our educational system, only to replace it with their own, based on their own difficulties at home, without taking into account our own indigenous concerns. Any policy that did not help the fulfilment of their national purpose was discarded, condemned, and considered a taboo. This is what we witnessed in our religion, socio-cultural lives, political lives, economic lives, and education.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

To reach a common purpose, Nigeria need analytical and creative thinking. There are still many national goals to be achieved, such as good education and a better future for our children, infrastructure in both rural and urban areas, consistent power supply, food industry, and adequate transportation, and we can achieve what we want primarily by working together and promoting unity in diversity.

1.3 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

This research intends to investigate critical, creative, and caring thinking as a solution to unemployment in Nigeria.

1.4 IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY

The study is significant because it will assist in enlightening our educational administrators and curriculum planners, parents, and instructors on the proper way to interacting with young people, as well as the appropriate dimension to follow in order to tackle the present difficulties in the Nigerian educational system.

1.5 TARGET AUDIENCE

The research is intended for

1) The pupils’ instructors

2) The educator-teachers

3) The curriculum developers

4) The school administrators

1.6 QUESTIONS FOR RESEARCH

1) How can we instill a caring, belonging, cooperation, and collaborative attitude in kids through classroom activities?

2) Is CACT a viable answer to Nigeria’s unemployment and poverty?

3) Can the CACT aid in the development of a thriving economy?

4) Can CACT principles promote student effectiveness?

5) How far can CACT values help to enhance the behaviour of our society’s youth?
